All the linking of RL to the RNC got me thinking. Would the RNC be better off with or without RL?

I went with "wash" (eventhough he is fat).

Kinda like Hillary, he's a polarizing figure. In many ways he gives R's and conservatives a bad name but on the other hand, he serves as a source of criticism (legit in many cases) of D's that just doesn't bubble up through the traditional media.

The guy drives me nuts sometimes, but I fail to see how a guy spouting conservatism for 3 hours a day to 6 million listeners is a bad thing for the GOP.

GA,
You have hit the nail on the head as to why the Dems are scared crapless of him

he helps Conservatism, without a doubt.

and as long as the GOP continues it's leftward slide, he's going to hurt them.

what makes people so mad at Rush is that he never waivers his beliefs. people don't like that.

And it's 20 million listeners....

I think bahm hit it right on the head. He is just like the Clintons, he's an extremely polarizing figure. His delivery may be grating, but what he says is mostly very legit grievances with the Liberal movement in this country. He did lose credibility with me, however, because at the height of the housing bubble he was screaming foul that it was being called so.... Needless to say he was dead wrong on that fact, and frankly I think he wasn't intellectually honest about his own party until far too late.
