Just picked up the magazine yesterday and here is how they see the Vols and other noteables.

Top 40 Rankings

1. Florida
6. Alabama
15. Creighton
17. Wichita State
22. Southern Illinois
25. Memphis
30. Winthrop
32. Tennessee
"Season 1 offered a nice glimpse at what can be expected from here on out in Knoxville with Bruce Pearl.

34. Penn
37. Kentucky
38. Texas
40. George Mason

I thought us being ranked 43nd was a complete joke! I also foubd it interesting they had 3 Missouri Valley Congerence ranked in the Top 25.


SEC Breakdown:

SEC East:

1. Florida
2. Tennessee
3. UK
4. Vandy
5. Georgia
6. USC

SEC West:

1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Arkansas
4. Mississippi State
5. Auburn
6. Ole Miss


Chris Lofton: 1st team SEC

The falloff at the end of last year may have something to do with it. I think we should have more talented of a team this year, but that is my opinion. I just want to beat OSU, which will be tough.

More talent with the freshman but we lost C.J., Andre, Stanley and now Major. I can't wait to see what Crews and Chism can do.

If not this year, next year should be good.

Those guys were more of leaders more than skill players IMO, but I think we had a good recruiting class and it will be interesting to see what they can do.

I think the media is trying to pick a ton of mid major's this year after what happened last season.

Wichita State, Southern Illinois, Hostra, Creighton, Winthrop, Penn and George Mason all in the top 40???

I will never understand why fans of other teams spend so much time on this board. I can understand it in the days leading up to a game, but all the time? I never go anywhere but here because Im only interested in the Vols. I think some of these guys are secret Vol fans. Maybe we can get lawgator and orangeandblue on Oprah to finally face their dark secret. The truth will set you free.

I am quite surprised that they do not have us in the top 25????

I guess it could be related to our relative youth. And possibly due to the loss of Major. But I suspect that the magazine was in publication prior to the expulsion of Major from the team.

I am not surprised that we aren't ranked in the Top 25. We are going to be very young. We only have one Sr.(Bradshaw). We have a tough schedule early. If we take care of business it will all even out. Preseason basketball rankings are even more worthless than football preseason rankings.

I don't really see a problem with it. If they get on here and can carry on a civilized conversation and not act like morons then what is the big deal. All the UF fan's we have on here contribute with out acting like fools.

I think Bruce pearl will use the regular season as a learning period and have em ready for the big dance , given our tough schedule I would hope the VOL NATION will be patient.

I was looking forward to the basketball season in mid-March.Not because I expected the football season to be a disappointment, but because there is now actually something TO look forward to after football.

Am I crazy, or did this article say that the Vols will be MORE athletic this season than they were last season?

Wow.

I now have hope we can win a bunch of games with a smaller lineup.

I think the important thing to remember here is that it's basketball. It's September! Who cares!
