So this has probably been discussed somewhere, but I couldn't find it. I've been ill lately and not keeping up with things as much as I have in the past. I heard on the radio today that Carr was or is being moved to the OL. What's this say for our LOS next year? I know we're lacking on the OL, but I thought Carr was predicted at one time to become a force on the DL. Not wanting to push the panic button just yet, but this scares me on just how shaky we're going to be in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

Why not take it as a sign that couches are more comfortable with our DL than they had expected to be, and that they figured that Carr could make more of an impact on the offensive side?

I take it as Carr lacks the skills necessary for an SEC DT so he has been moved to shore up depth on the OL

I think they basically said he doesnt have the aggressive nature they are looking for and they need depth on OL

I have a feeling the couches will be burned later this year

I am wondering where this fascination with couches is coming from, and what it has to do with football

I think we have some good talent coming in this fall and the DL could end up being a nice surprise, maybe a bit undersized, but still some good ones coming in. The OL on the other hand, I am worried. Either way, these two groups hold the key to our season...just like they always do.

I think starters on both lines will be adequate; the problem is no quality depth at this time. Maybe things will improve as young talent progresses as the season goes on.

Bottom Line, is body like Tarzan plays like Jane. He was a projected starter, didn't put the work in. Lacks the quickness and aggressiveness to compete. seen a few 1-1 match ups this spring where he was dominated.. Coach Jones called him out a week before this happened. DL line talent is coming, not hating on the kid but Coach just gave you a wake up call. Time to go to work or be recruiter over.

Wait. I thought our tradition was burning mattresses. Did I miss something?

Agreed. Perhaps he meant this couch?

I'm the exact opposite. Our offensive line was getting good reviews all Spring, so I think they'll be serviceable enough with the new weapons we have at the skill positions.

Our d-line, however, is a HUGE concern. We're slow, inexperienced, undersized and thin at DT, and the fact that coaches were experimenting with Curt Maggit and Jakob Johnson at DE wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement of more established guys like Cory Vereen and Jordan Williams. While help is on the way, I'm worried about relying on a group of teenagers to match up physically against the likes of Oklahoma, Alabama and Georgia.

Some of their players are barely beyond being teenagers themselves. We'll know soon enough how many of them, if any, will contribute. I'm sure at least one wil step up.

I kinda agree with you. I had it in my head that Carr was one of our 4 best DTs along with OWilliams, Saulsberry and OBrien. I hope this is just to shake things up and he comes back to the D, but, they know lotsa things we don't know.

Maybe when big Mosley gets in, they will decide between him and Carr which will be D and which one O.

I think the switch will be good for Carr. With the staff moving Jordan Williams inside and having 3-4 newcomers at the position soon, I think Carr will be closer to providing good depth/playing at OT. He has the right build to be good there.
