Talent was never lacking for this team. Pearl didn't leave on the best terms, but he didn't leave a bunch of scrubs for Martin to work with. Golden, Maymon, and McRae were all very highly-recruited coming out of high school. The addition of Stokes really elevated the talent level to a point where they could compete with anyone. The struggles early on had to do with a change in philosophy from the coach. Because Martin has had his players buy into the defensively-oriented system, they're playing at a high level.[/QUOTE]
that seems like a contradiction???
martin hasnt changed his philosophy, the players have. they didnt want to listen to his philosophy early on, but they lost to AP. after that lost they bought into his same philosophy and have now been succesful.
