He deserves the recognition he's getting. I would have NEVER thought this team would be where it is now. His coaching job has been amazing.

I think he deserves to be the SEC Coach of the Year and probably a consideration for National Coach of the Year.

The media pundits who feign surprise that the Vols finished strong are either overlooking or forgetting the fact that UT’s schedule was front-loaded. No one should be surprised that the Vols’ winning percentage improved as the season progressed, especially since the addition, and maturation, of Stokes.

I think people are surprised at how talented this team is. It's not like this was a bunch of scrubs left. Most guys playing were/are 4 stars or high 3's except for Mcbee. Experience lacking? yes. Talent lacking? no.

CCM has done a great job. But let's not forget that he has put an outstanding staff together. There is no way we get these results without all of these guys doing their part. There should be some head coach candidates in that group.

CCM has the one thing from his players that I still think is lacking from Dooley's squad......BUY IN.

Wait until the end of the season, then raise and extend. This could keep other teams from even thinking about calling. Like UCLA if Howland gets axed.

Talent was never lacking for this team. Pearl didn't leave on the best terms, but he didn't leave a bunch of scrubs for Martin to work with. Golden, Maymon, and McRae were all very highly-recruited coming out of high school. The addition of Stokes really elevated the talent level to a point where they could compete with anyone. The struggles early on had to do with a change in philosophy from the coach. Because Martin has had his players buy into the defensively-oriented system, they're playing at a high level.

I will admit CCM proved me wrong. I didn't think he would be that great. He has done more with this team then I thought possible.

Now it's time for my CLK complex and be paranoid about him leaving.

that seems like a contradiction???

martin hasnt changed his philosophy, the players have. they didnt want to listen to his philosophy early on, but they lost to AP. after that lost they bought into his same philosophy and have now been succesful.
Yep. :p

The man deserves coach of the year in the SEC but won't win it. Slick Cal will get the nod.

Man should win coach of the year. Kentucky did what they were supposed to do. We did the completely unexpected. I thought eleventh was a little tough, I said maybe seven or eight. Second is beyond amazing.

Kentucky had the number 1 recruiting class last year, and lost a lot. They couldnt win on the road. I think everyone knew this was the best class yet, but I dont think many had us at 30-1 with those tough road games near the end. I didnt.

I get your point completely though. Well said.
