If you're like me, you've watched every snap of all eight games (some multiple times), and so you've seen how the defense has not only improved dramatically, but has even shown up and won us a few games. Still, for a lot of opposing fans and casual/ miserable UT fans, they think that Tennessee's defense is just awful. Why? Because somewhere they read that the passing defense gives up a ton of yards and while they have, that just feels like a lazy way to look at a defense and calling them bad. So I looked up all of the defensive team stats on the ncaa website today and I was not only proven right, but genuinely impressed. So without further adieu, here you go... Tennessee is....

#9 rushing yards per game
#26 Defensive PPG
#13 Red Zone defense
#18 3rd down defense
#22 interceptions
#23 fumble recoveries
#11 Turnover margin
#33 sacks
#31 tackles for loss
#40 defensive passer efficiency
#16 1st quarter points allowed
#19 1st half points allowed.
But ya, passing YARDS per game is all that matters
