They are up in arms down here over Phil Mushnick's column in the New York Post accusing the team from Georgia of basically cheating.

Probably just my displeasure of watching any type of baseball/softball on tv then. Don't enjoy waiting that long between the action unless I'm actually at a game.

I've been watching in small doses. I'm really not a fan of the Little League stlyle of ball...no leadoffs/ traditional stealing, shorter mound distance and short fences, compared with USSSA, Triple Crown, etc.

That being said, it's fun to watch the kids and families and all the emotions and experiences they are having.

Every time I think of the LLWS, I think of Danny Almonte. I wonder how many more there are like him that aren't caught?

What happened?

Good game tonight between GA and CA tonight!

Funny to see a 6' kid at bat then the next kid at bat is 5'2".

What happened? I turned it off thinking GA was going to take down the CA machine. They had a 5 run lead in the 5th and lost?

Yeah. Tied up at 10 and they couldn't hang on. GA couldn't score, then let CA load the bases. Wild pitch won the game.

I was watching one game in which the strike zone was batter's box to batter's box. No wonder the pitcher had a no hitter deep into the fifth inning. I think it was Mexico.:dunno:

They actually call the strike zone the way it is written in the rule book. Look at the scores, if they called a Major League zone, the scores would be like softball.

The writer pointed out that a batter for Georgia swung at an outside pitch, with 3-0 count, while the pitcher was intentionally walking him and nearing the tournament pitch count. Mushnick writes commentary on sports media coverage and noted that while the commentator gave the kid a pass, saying he was just goofing off, the cameras scanned to the 3rd base coach and he was expressionless, presumably aware the kid was going to swing.

That is awesome

Warner Robins has a farm system for their Little League team. They scout all the Air Force kids, all over the country, when they are 9 & 10. Then, presto, transfero, their dad or mom gets transferrred to the AFB in WR.
So, yes they take winning this event very serious. He did not break any rules.

Contrast that with the California coach in the championship game. This big man was walked three times and he did not have him swing on 3-0. Cali came back and won the game. There is something to be said about the old, "let a sleeping dog lay" saying.

I was an instructor for LL in Williamsport, for two summers during the 8 weeks of baseball camps that they run prior to the Series starting. It is a first class organization. The best part of being an instructor, was on the down time, between campers leaving on Sat and new ones arriving on Sun afternoon, the instructors would have the "Whiffle Ball World Series" in the stadium.

I recall a time when the kids couldn't make a play on a simple ground ball now they can turn two no problem. In the past they might catch fly ball now they bang into wall and pull back homerun balls. I really enjoy most games
