Place is dead, great place to watch a ball game though. The high screen is killing us and we aren't rebounding

Tried to go there Saturday for Santa Rampage. They wouldn't have any of us.

Memorial is a dump. Plain and simple.

In typical Vanderbilt fashion, Memorial was built to be a multi-purpose facility, adequately hosting everything from opera to sporting events. The accoustics are good, but everything from the layout of the benches and scorers table, to the raised floor, to the concessions is less than ideal for basketball. I don't think "dump" is the right word, but from a fan perspective, there are certainly better places to watch basketball.

EDIT: From a different perspective, it was a great place to see George Clinton. That cavernous seating area has great accoustics.

I've about a half dozen games in Memorial. It may be adequate for other events but I can't think of a worse place to see a game.

There are a few. Ga Tech comes to mind, and I've never really cared for Rupp, another all-purpose arena, particularly since every time I've been in there for a college game I have been surrounded by enemy. Any football stadium turned into a basketball gym is defacto lousy.

I did have an interesting experience two years ago in Memorial. I'd guess I've seen around 80 games there, but for the first time, I sat in the endzone about 3 rows behind the visitors bench for the Vandy/UK game. That was an odd perspective, although watching the battles in the paint was entertaining.

If you have seats on the sidelines in the first few rows, the view from shoe top level is, in fact, miserable.

Seriously. Who builds an arena with blocked view seats. It's like there wasn't even a blueprint. During construction they decided "let's build a wall here, and put a pole over there".
