Don't underestimate their toughness. I remember the 1987 win over California in K'Town when Terrence Cleveland caught a pass over the middle and was leveled by a Cal freesafety. One of the hardest licks I've ever witnessed. I didn't think Terrence would get up. (That was when our receivers were not afraid to catch over the middle).I cant wait. They are about to get their first taste of SEC speed and toughness and I dont think their going to like it.
check out the closing comments from Cals DB on the espn chat room recently...
"Daymeion Hughes: Make sure everyone tunes in for Tennessee, we're going to try and put on a show for the whole nation."
time to get fired up!!!
offensively i would agree with you...i would say offensively they are ahead of the SEC in speed.Seriously, SEC football isn't THAT much more tough or faster than PAC 10. IN FACT, I would the SEC is NOOOO faster than the PAC.

defensively though, not a chance.
and that's the thing...if SEC defenses are sooo good, Aub, TN, ARK all get a chance to show it off against the offensive jugernauts they play in week 1.
are offenses in the Pac 10 so good because the defenses aren't very good? are the defenses in the SEC so good because the offenses haven't been very good latey? which came first the chicken or the egg?
Yeah I agree that is not locker room material. To me that is no worse than saying we will try to win today.
You might want to focus that energy to some other area of your life.more fuel for the fire:
Preseason Hype
California is getting plenty of attention from the preseason magazines. The Golden Bears are ranked in the Top 10 in five different football preview publications, including a No. 6 rating in Street & Smith's College Football 2006 Yearbook. In addition, seven different Cal players have been tabbed as preseason All-Americans: linebacker Desmond Bishop, cornerback Daymeion Hughes, tailback Marshawn Lynch, defensive tackle Brandon Mebane, cornerback Tim Mixon, tight end Craig Stevens and defensive end Nu'u Tafisi. Hughes is rated as the No. 1 cornerback in the nation by Phil Steele's College Football Preview and Lynch is ranked No. 2 among running backs by The Sporting News.
