So I'm very confused about Loften at this point...

I know he didn't qualify for this season...I also know that Dooley wants to get him in as an EE this January...

A few of things I'm not sure about are...

1. Will he count towards next years class if he qualifies for EE in January?

2. Did he get a qualifying score on his lastest SAT and it just wasn't in time or did he not get a qualifying score?

3. If he didn't get a qualifying score can he take it again?

4. Is the score the only thing he needs (i.e. no classroom work)?

5. What will he do this football season if he qualifies as an EE for January...just sit around?

1. I think he would be back counted.
5. He would be just like the other EE's we got this year. He would not be eligible until next year but he could practice and attend meetings.

1. I have heard that they can back-count his scholarship towards last year. Not sure though.
2. I heard he didn't get a qualifying score on the 2nd attempt.
3. TOS said that he would work on getting his score up and cleared for January. So yes he is taking it again.
4. As far as what has been said he just needs the score.
5. Train on his own and prepare to pass the test.

1. Yes. He is now officially a 2011 Vol commit.
2. No
3. Yes
4. He says he only needs to pass 1 online class and then he will be ready to be here in January.
5. just work out. he isn't going to Prep or JUCO for sure.

So as of now we have a 2nd 4* recruit in this class? I know it's irrelevant to some but I'm wondering what effect this will have on our class ranking come this NSD

Also, if he didn't get a qualifying score this time then it sounds like he'll have to pass an online class AND retake the SAT again

I dunno if he will be counted in the class by Rivals, but regardless if he is or not, yes, we have our 2nd Rivals 4star committed.

I'm not sure exactly what Loften has to do but here is exactly what he said:

"I'm not going to juco I gotta take one online class and ill b down there in jan"

"Yea so ima just sit out for a semester"

That's great news! I like Loften a lot.

The staff does too. They want him in Orange badly.

It's really good to hear he is going to stay with UT.

Question LV: Now that he is a '11 recruit (EE), will this have any effect on the recruitment of other '11 DB's i.e. Walls, Countess, etc.? Or will it make no difference because they had counted on him being here anyway (this would be my guess)?

Maybe. We may only take 6 DBs (counting Loften) now but I'm not sure. We will take Walls and King, no doubt. Randolph, Martin, and Walls can possibly play a different position so that helps.

He won't be considered by Rivals. Similar to when Morley came back. Rivals doesn't have the manpower to make that many adjustments to team's overall rankings, etc... either way its good to know that he can essentially be an EE for 2011 and that we don't have to worry about him doing juco and his recruitment opening back up.

Yeah but you also have the case of Gerald Williams who was in the exact situation Loften was in and was counted towards the 2006 class after signing in the 2005 class...of course he didn't actually make it here until the 2008 class...a class that he was once again counted in as a JUCO...

Seems like sometimes Rivals counts players in situations like this and sometimes they don't

So with Loften, that would give UT 4 already committed (Coleman, Randolph and Martin). And Walls and King are the two highest on the board yet to commit, correct? Would Countess be a fallback?

I don't believe he will be counted because he isn't going to JUCO or Prep.
