After a year in the Turkish desert, Lofton still has the same problems he had after his college career. He is a 2-guard who isn't quick enough to create his own shot, he isn't big enough to shoot over people, and he isn't either enough to guard anybody in the NBA.
Here's a quick quiz: Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Joe Johnson, Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Manu Ginobli, Raja Bell, Rip Hamilton, Brandon Roy--which one of those guys does Lofton match-up with?
I liked Lofton, and wish him the best, but the fact of the matter is that with his limitations in size and athleticism, he just isn't going to be very coveted in the NBA.
Exactly....
He is just too slow and too small to make it to the next level....Most beautiful shot I have ever seen but not gonna see it in the NBA...
so Steve Kerr is a better athlete than Lofton? I don't think so, personally......seems like someone would want him for a gimmick 3-ball wizard, to come in and hit clutch shots...........:clapping:
Isn't Redick still with the Magic? Pretty sure he still is and he even saw some minutes in the playoffs. If JJ Reddick is not making it in the league what makes you think Lofton could?? Both were great 3point shooters but Reddick could get open and create his own shot...
Reddick is still coming off the bench some for the Magic..He has fallen out of favor with Van Gundy for one reason or another. Not sure.
On Mr Lofton I totally agree. With the deadly three ball always on his mind, I do not see why some team takes a chance on him. For example, my lowly Memphis Grizzlies. WHY THE HECK NOT!! What would you lose. Maybe he cant hang defensively with some of the other examples on this thread..But what an upside in heart and accuracy. Maybe I am just to homegrown and love His style and play. But he would look good out there with Mayo, Thabeet, Iverson, Gasol, Randolph, Gay.....
Yeah I know! Hameed Haddadi! Came of the bench and scored 11 the other nite. whatta trip.Maybe you've got a point there. If that big Iranian dude can get a roster spot, there is hope for anybody, I suppose.

Lofton's pros and cons have been well-documented, but it is still interesting to me that he isn't on a training camp roster. Many felt his summer league performance would at least give him a shot.
Honestly they are about the same. Biggest difference is Kerr is 6'3 1/2 and Lofton is about 5'11. Some NBA guards could not leave their feet and still have Lofton not block it. There is a reason NO teams want Lofton. I hate it for him because being short and slow is something that he can't fix but thats the way it is. People Lofton is not an NBA player, sorry, get over it.so Steve Kerr is a better athlete than Lofton? Oh Reddick is on the team but he does not get much playing time...He cant play defense at all....and I said that because Reddick is better then Lofton....so if Reddick is not a serious contributor then what makes you think Lofton would be??
That is the big problem with Lofton he might hit a couple 3's but he would get abused on the defensive end of the court...and if they put anybody on him who was quick like a point guard typically is....Then he would never get open for a shot. I love Lofton he was absolutley amazing to watch in college but he needs to just stick with the team in Spain....
Your two comments on this thread are horrible. First of all, you act like Steve Kerr played in the 50's. I still remember him playing in what many call the greatest days of the NBA. Yeah, garbage talent with Jordan and Pippen - he'd never make it in the league now.....
And JJ not being that good? I know he isn't a star by any means but last year in the playoffs he was matched up with Kobe and shut him down (not literally but shut down for Kobe which is still better than most).
And you said Lofton would never get open? I don't remember him needing to be open to shoot anyways. Anyone remember him hitting a 3 over Durant? The best part of his game is shooting with a defender in his face.
I'm not saying he is an NBA star but he is a good enough shooter to play in the league. You are telling me that Daniel Gibson for the Cavs is that much better than Lofton? Watch the people coming off the bench.....they aren't exactly dominant.
So why isn't he on a team? You think one of the NBA GMs would see all this talent that you see. People, he's just not good enough.
Yes, Lofton has NBA talent, and Stephens is better than Crompton. Volnation says so.
All I'm saying is that Lofton is a good enough shooter to get in the game.
