If Hatvol actually knows Lon Kruger, and if Lon thinks that UNLV is the 4th or 5th best job in the MWC, can he please please please, try to get him to Knoxville?

He is remembered fondly by K State fans, Florida fans and by Illinois fans because he is a heck of a coach.

I have never been able to make the kind of contribution to the AD that impacted our sport the way that Hat can if he indeed is friends with the man as he claims.

Call Lon, gauge his interest and if he is willing to leave a job he does not view as that great for his conference, lets get him here!

Lon Kruger would be an outstanding coach for us, he could definitely bring great talent to Knoxville and he could certainly avoid the regression we fear. He should also be happy to work here for 1.5 which is about what it sounds like we are willing to pay. Kruger's raise guarantees UNLV coach $5.2 million - Sports - ReviewJournal.com Sounds like he has a $500k buyout and would be forfeiting $325k.

Can we offer $1.5, in a 6 year deal with incentives for winning big that take us to $2? I think that deal is very realistic.

The small part of me that thinks this will be a home run hire is hopeful that Hat has not talked more about Lon because he is privy to some info that we do not have.

For those who do not know why Kruger would be so good:

So you bash O'neil for the style of play we had while he was at UT, but Lon Kruger excites you? Hilarious.

Nope, can't have. Lon Kruger sucked in the NBA.

We will not get Kruger because your idol, the worst AD in major collegiate athletics, is uncapable of making a hire that would actually benefit the university.

MH may have issues, but that statement is absurd.

How is that absurd? UT athletics has been an absolute circus for the past three years. He seems like a good guy and all, but that does not take away from the fact that under his tenure Tennessee athletics has found its name in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Name me another school that has had all three major sports under NCAA scrutiny to go along with accomplishing nothing of true signifigance on the field.

I'm not a fan of Hamilton myself these days but to suggest that he's the "worst AD in major collegiate athletics" is sensationalistic.

First off, there were no allegations against the baseball team.

Second, MH didn't lie, CBP did. Should he have fired him sooner? Probably. But the AD is a political position and he doesn't always have final say on who's hired and fired. Input, yes. Absolute authority, no.

Kiffin? I don't think anyone could have possibly foreseen what that would turn into. You could make an argument that, at the time, Kiffin was the perfect hire. (We obviously know better in hindsight)

Hamilton has also guided the athletic department to tremendous financial success at a time when most are losing money.

And, it's still too early to tell, but it seems that Dooley could end up being a very solid hire.

Again, I won't be upset if he's replaced. But to say he's the worst is just not accurate.
