Have we had one over 25 yet?

Btw I like our RBs just not breakaway speed
Yep.

Small had a 49 run against LSU and a 39 run against Gators. Wright had 35 run against UK and a 33 run against Ball St. Sampson a 45 run against UT-M

It’s been a while since we’ve had a back that could break one at any moment consistently. Evans could do it last year but that didn’t pan out.

That’s the next evolution for this offense. I feel like we’ll have solid QB play just because of how much we spread the field and keep the defense on their toes. But we run more than we pass.

Our running game opens up the pass game because defenses will have to get a +1 advantage in the box which leaves our receivers with mismatches on the outside. Getting a great back also wears down the defense and when we aren’t in hurry up mode, it’ll allow us to put the game away much easier.

Don’t forget Wright is still a true sophomore. He’s not going to make as big of a jump this season to next as he did last offseason, but he likely still has room to grow. I think he has the potential to be a very, very good back, just a rung or two under the Gibbs’s and Corum’s of the college football world. He breaks more tackles and has better speed than Small. We need another one about his level or better from the portal and then still get Jabari 7-10 carries a game as well. Finally, if Sampson makes a big jump in mass/strength as well as understanding the offense, we’re suddenly in very good shape at RB. If a true freshman (Keith perhaps?) can contribute as well? Gravy.
