he's gotten a team to at least the Elite Eight within three years of taking the job. I thought that was supposed to be impossible?

Why is that impossible? Love Huggy but he's had teams bow out of the tourney way too early several times. My brackets from seasons past will attest to that.

I recall a certain someone in a certain thread who said that over and over, followed by other ridiculous statements. *cough*

I guess thats why he changed to a new screen name and avoids said thread.

I still think its a shame on earth what the NCAA has done regarding this region.

Ask the Pearlophiles. They're the ones who act like it's unreasonable to expect a Tanning Bed to make an Elite Eight until roughly the year 2050.

Lucky for them, though, he bleeds orange so he will be here to see that through in 2050.

I said it on Selection Sunday. There's no way they were going to let themselves face the prospect of seeing Cal and Huggs both coming to Indy.

For the second time.

Glad to see he could take a school to the elite 8 within the first 3 years when the school was in the E8 2 years before the old drunk arrived. Also glad to see he was able to end his decade-long stretch of tourney disappointments.

If he was playing any other team left in the tourney I'd give him great odds on making the final four this year. Huggs has some of the worst tourney luck that I've ever seen.

Not in the dance but Kenyon Martin breaking his fibula in a freak accident is the cusa tournament when they were the best team in the country comes to mind.

You should say lucky for all of us. I like huggs, but for the people that don't like pearl even if he would have made the elite 8 people still would just say he hasn't won championships.

So they can't claim huggs us a good coach either.

That's my point.

It's all relative when someone says a person is a good coach. For example, I say Izzo is one of the best coaches in the country. He may not have as many championships as other coaches, but if I'm starting a team and looking for a coach then Izzo is definitely one of my first phone calls. If you compare Huggins to the majority of college basketball coaches, then I will say without a doubt that he is a dang good coach.
