1.) What kind of staff does Butch Jones assemble. If he puts together a real quality staff, that will go a long way in helping him succeed.

2.) How we finish in recruiting in February. If he can go out there, hold the recruits we have, and maybe get some kids excited for Tennessee that otherwise wouldn't have considered us, maybe we can finish top 15.

If he is successful on these fronts from the get go, he'll at least earn year 1 suppport from me. If he $hits the bed on either one of these, I'll already have serious doubts about his ability to succeed in this conference!

Lol at the notion a top 15 class will get us anything except middling in conference, I don't care who the staff is.

is he going to run that lame offense that every defense with speed destroys?

Maybe...but he will have SEC caliber players running it, so maybe it has a chance....look at what Johnny Football did to teams with speed....of course we don't have a Johnny Football that we know of....unless Peterman is....

Go ahead and purchase new linens and/or adult diapers.... This is going to be an unmitigated disaster.

I have no confidence that he will do either. Probably have current cinc staff and if we finish above 12th in the SEC in recruiting, I will be surprised.

Just heard the Cincinnati play by play guy interview on the radio. He said Jones would likely bring his entire staff with him. Most of them followed him from Central Michigan. He also said he has typically run the spread.

I personally hope he keeps Chaney, Graham and Pitman and we keep doing what we are use to. I don't see it though.

You're going to have to give him two. There's a strong foundation here, but 2013's schedule is too brutal to expect much more than this year.

That doesn't sound too promising. NOt a lot to get excited about...getting rid of the few good position coaches we have to be replaced by big east coaches...
sigh....

Dooley assembled a "solid" staff and even signed a 5* recruit, remember how that turned out?

Also pleased do not be swayed by his press conference. We want action, not words. We will probably know in about a week what we have when staff is announced. Not hopeful that we will get quality DC & OC if coming from cinc instead of looking for the best.

I just don't see him competeing in recruiting enough to matter. You have to be in the top 7-8 every year to have a chance in SEC. If you are top 15 that means there are probably 6-7 other SEC schools ahead of you

I don't care who he brings as long as they:
  • Can get talent to come to Tennessee (not as hard as people think, witness Derek Dooley)
  • Win games
  • Don't embarrass us in the process.

Lets cut the bulls**t out. Hes not going to recruit top ten class this yr or any other. Hes not going to compete for SEC champ prob ever. But he is happy to have this job and his resume isnt just terrible. He's who we were able to get and, like it or not, we are gonna have to give him 5 yrs this time. First 2 yrs to clean up and last 3 yrs to prove his worth. 5 yrs or we get someone worse next time. We have to rebuild our image, not our history and tradition. 5 freakin yrs. This f**kin administration should be publicly hanged at the 50 yd line today.

Well, if true, that will certainly be a huge mistake. That crap won't win games in the SEC.

I was trying to prepare myself for disappointment, but I truly wasn't prepared for this.
