Hey Vol fans...
Wanted to say I'm looking forward to Saturday night...I've had this date circled on my calendar for a while.
I spent several weeks in the Chattanooga/Cleveland area and met quite a few Vol fans and they were great people. Also got a lot of comments on my purple and gold...several people in restaurants asked if I was a coach. Guess they thought I was up there scouting. I even gave up four of my best seats this weekend to some Vol fans who are clients.
So, about the game. With the weather factor now, I believe it will be a relatively low scoring game with neither team able to do much passing. Since it should come down to the running game, I believe that will pretty much be a toss up. Both teams have great offensive and defensive lines so the game may hinge on who makes the least penalties and turnovers...or with special teams and field position.
I believe we are pretty much equal when it comes to speed, running game, and defense. Right now I give the special teams edge to LSU and I would give LSU a little edge on quarterback play. I've read some posts here critical of Jamarcus Russells play against ASU but they must not have seen the same game I saw. JR had a great game and several dropped balls right in the hands of receivers that if caught would have changed the game dramatically....one was a sure TD.
Then there are the intangibles with this being our actual home opener. I truly consider this game to be the litmus test for LSU and will dictate the rest of the season. A loss could be extremely tough to overcome and a win could set the tone for Pasadena.
Never been much of a smack talker....I leave that to the kids. Good luck to y'all. It's unfortunate that the conditions are such that you have to travel the same day. I understand your sentiments about moving the game and I would probably feel the same if the roles were reversed. But, just like Knoxville, our community revolves around our team and the people here are really looking forward to the game and it's greatly needed. For those of you travelling, get a good head start. Our parish has doubled in size overnight and traffic is unbelievable, but once you get here, the party is on......Nice board you have here.
LSU - 21
UT - 20
