Its crazy how the instate talent here at Tennessee just keeps getting better each year right now. I detailed a few weeks how absolutely loaded the 2019 instate class was. According to 247's composite rankings, the 2019 class in Tennessee currently has 20 4-star caliber players. An absolutely insane amount considering the fact we are going crazy about how talented the 2018 instate class is and it currently has only 9 4-star or higher recruits available. The 20 4-star recruits in the class of 2019 puts the state of Tennessee only behind Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California when it comes to the numbers of 4-star or higher recruits in the class of 2019.

Looking forward to the class of 2020, it looks like the instate talent pool is only getting better. As of now, 247 has only released a list of the top 109 players in the class of 2020 so far. But guess what? Tennessee is once again well represented. 247 has 8 players from the state of Tennessee ranked in the top 109 recruits nationally for the class of 2020 (including 2 who are currently 5-stars): http://247sports.com/Season/2020-Fo...Rankings?InstitutionGroup=HighSchool&State=TN

If you breakdown the top 109 players in the class of 2020 by state, this is how the rankings go:

1. Florida/Texas - 14
3. Georgia - 13
4. California - 12
5. Tennessee - 8
6. Louisiana/Maryland/North Carolina/Virginia/Arizona - 4

Tennessee has now taken up a spot by itself in a tier just below Florida, Georgia, Texas, and California when it comes to instate talent. I know its crazy to think that we are producing more elite college football talent than Louisiana but the numbers bear it out. If you look at the rankings of the 2019 and 2020 instate classes, Tennessee is now in position to become one of the powers in college football when it comes to producing elite college football talent.

Even Tom Lemming is catching on to how LOADED the state of Tennessee is getting.

That looks really good, and I was excited reading it. However, it's kind of like the age ol story of the boy who cried Heisman, because of the author of the thread. Now I'm a little worried that Tennessee isnt going to be that loaded. :pilot:

I'm not the one who puts together 247s rankings. And I'm not the one who is telling Alabama and Clemson to offer these kids scholarships as 9th and 10th graders.

No. But it tells me we should have a better coach who can take advantage of this plentiful talent in the state of Tennessee. In years past, the thing people would point to when they wanted to argue that Tennessee wasn't a top 5-10 job was the fact that the state lacked instate talent. Well that isn't the case anymore. We are now one of the top 5 states in the country when it comes to producing talent.

The administration has no excuse now to not have a top notch coach running the program that can take advantage of all this talent.

Good coach Gruden and coach Manning will have a field day on the recruiting trail. Cant wait.

Booyah, Mount Juliet representing! Go Bears! Undefeated so far this season, and have outscored opponents by combined score of 200 - 0. Will that last? I highly doubt it, but it gets me excited because when I was in school there, we never had this sort of success or Football power at all.

Reggie Grimes is a straight beast.

The talent is making the Tennessee job so much easier with the in state recruiting. Problem is the coaching must improve to get them here and develop them.

Looking at the 2020 kids, he might be the most impressive one. I wonder what position he ultimately plays? At 6'5", he could be a heck of a DE.

Numbers don't lie. TN is for on the upswing for in state talent. But, it will take decades to catch up with the states listed above us.

We don't need to catch up to those states. They have way more schools/competition. Florida, California, and Texas have several Power 5 instate schools competing for that talent. Georgia is probably the closest to us in terms of only having 2 major Power 5 programs in the state. If we can produce half the talent Georgia does but do a better job in keeping that talent instate, we'll more than fine.

Right now we just need to win big so all these kids that are growing up in the state of Tennessee can grow up rooting for a program is a national title contender. And if we breakthrough and win big, we'll have an entire generation growing up wanting to play for the University of Tennessee.
