Been hearing some in the local media saying the Tigers were in for a long season. My buddy, who is a Tiger fan, had an extra ticket to the exhibition vs D2 CBU tonight, so I went with him to check them out.

Do not claim to be a basketball exert by any means, but here are some notes and observations...

-losing by 13 at one point in the 1st half. Went into halftime down 29-28.

- CBU was made up of relatively small, athletic and talent lacking, white kids. Imagine the hoosiers team.

- They are horrible in the post. Niles can be decent at times, but the JUCO Coleman is lazy and routinely finds a way to get lost out there.

- Free throw shooting was adequate, but they were atrocious from 3 point range.

- Elliot Williams is a nice addition, but was the only option for most of the night.

- They can't rebound. No depth. 8 man rotation, they looked tired against the CBU motion.

- The defense was awful for most of the night. CBU broke their full court press with ease.

I do not see this team winning CUSA and I find it hard to believe that they will be a NCAA tourney team. I think that Jackson State will pose as a formidable threat this Friday.

Cal took all their incoming talent with him. With a new coach, who has no head coaching experience and a lack of talent--at least at the level they have become accustomed to, who would expect any thing except a challenging season.

haha @ memphis. I can't believe they were down 13. I thought Memphis had a lot of size and were going to be 'half way' decent.

I'm surprised they've had any success recruiting to a rebuilding program. Their top recruits are going to be in for a long 4 years with at least 1 coaching change.

A couple bad season and maybe Pearl can try again to pull a fish out of the Mississippi River.
