Looks like SC has passed us by

Don't think so! I think the SEC East was a little down last year and Spurrier got lucky. The East has improved and Spurrier still has average talent and the GameCocks will take a step back this year.

4th in the east? LOL LOL LOL....who would pick SC over us. You hit that CRACK PIPE to long. I believe the race is between UT vs UF for the east and Auburn vs LSU.. UGA is gonna have a down season. there QB's are not proven. their rb's underachieve each year. they have no big-time WR...i don't see how UT is 4th but maybe we will do better as UNDER-DAWGS.....Sept.2 can't get here fast enough.

Unless I hit the crack pipe too hard and forgot, SC beat us last year and was ranked ahead of us in the final SEC standings. Same for Vandy. Thus, I don't see such a prediction to be that ridiculous. Also, if you think UGA's tailbacks underachieve, you are out of your mind. None ever rack up huge numbers, but that is because four of them share carries. If you want to see some underachieving, check out our defense in the 4th quarter of the Georgia game last year. Their RBs must have averaged 10ypc in that quarter. It was pathetic. I think they were just trying to kill some clock, but we let them into the end zone.

Give it another year and SC will be at the top regarless of their record.

Not really sure who that idiot is but if he thinks 7-5 will be acceptable "progress", he's out of his mind.

As for USC, Spurrier is a great coach... but he has no line, one or two decent receivers, and a defense that won't be as good as last year. He's easily two years away from being strongly, consistently competitive.

I actually have a bigger problem with UF at 1 than I do SC at 3. I think SC might well be 3rd... and either UGA or UF 4th.

According to SC fans they are on top every year. If it wasnt for a few bad bounces or the refs blowing a call they would be in the MNC game every year.

P.S. a little joke to lighten he mood:)

A man was at the country club for his weekly round of golf. He began his round with an eagle on the first hole and a birdy the second. On the third hole he had just scored his first ever hole in one when his cell phone rang.
It was a doctor notifying him that his wife had just been in a terrible accident and was in critical condition and in the ICU.
The man told the doctor to inform his wife where he was and that he'd be there as soon as possible. As he hung up he realized he was leaving what was shaping up to be his best ever round of golf. He decided to get in a couple of more holes before heading to the hospital. He ended up finishing all eighteen. He finished his round shooting a personal best 61 shattering the club record by five strokes and beating his previous best game by more than 10.
He was jubilant, then he remembered his wife. Feeling guilty he dashed to the hospital. He saw the doctor in the corridor and asked about his wife's condition.
The doctor glared at him and shouted, "You went ahead and finished your round of golf didn't you! I hope you're proud of yourself! While you were out for the past four hours enjoying yourself at the country club your wife has been languishing in the ICU! It’s just as well you went ahead and finished that round because it will be more than likely your last! For the rest of her life she will require 'round the clock care. And you'll be her care giver!"
The man was feeling so guilty he broke down and sobbed.
The doctor started to snicker and said, "Just kidding! She died more than two hours ago. What'd you shoot?

Dude, you seem like you do enough research (at least it seemed, before this one), but Sidney Rice is one of the best 5 receivers in the country, maybe the best. He's far far better than decent.

Very decent. I would say 3rd behing Calvin Johnson of GT and Dwayne Jarret of USC

I think Johnson is a bit overrated, but with Ball at QB, he's at a disadvantage.

I would rate Jarrett, Rice, Jason Hill (Wash State), Steve Smith (USC), Todd Blythe (Iowa State), D'Juan Woods (Okla State), and James Hardy (Indiana) around where Johnson is.

I would include Joel Filani and Robert Johnson from Texas Tech, but they have inflated stats due to averaging almost 50 passes a game in their system. Johnson is good though. Rice is the shiz.

"Decent" is a relative term I suppose. Yes I know about Rice. Who doesn't who has been paying attention? My wife is from SC so I have an interest in keeping up with the 'cocks and Tigers.

My point was that they aren't deep.

Spurrier picked up a QB that will give him his first real shot in a couple of years out of Alabama. He'll win games and I think they will stay in or around the top 3 for the next two years.

I just don't think UT will be the odd man out this particular year. Could be wrong but that's my opinion starting the season.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA....oh wait you were serious. :)
Without any doubt.

UGA will run as well as anyone. They'll have a very good defense but they have question marks at WR and QB that will cost them games. How many remains to be seen.

UF plays a tough schedule but the worst problems are that their RB's haven't proven they can play and their line is wafer thin and may not even have 5 quality starters. Added to that is the fact that Meyer's offense flopped against the better SEC defenses last year and Leak doesn't fit it even if it works... I see a team that wins with an outstanding defense but loses to teams who can match them defensively and put up a few points.

USC is riding on Spurrier's coattails, IMO. I still am not convinced that he can do the job.

I predict that the Vols will finish second in the SEC East, with Kentucky heading to the Georgia Dome on Dec. 2. </passes reefer on>

Preseason predictions mean nothing. UT proved that last year. We'll see what happens when play starts.

Not sure when the last time the "experts" got it right. It is all a flip of the coin. SC beating UT and FL earned the lots of brownie points. Although I don't think they will repeat they earned the 3rd spot and we earned the 4th in their predictions.

How it will turn out is another story.
