We should have hired a DC much, much sooner.

How many other DEs and DTs did we miss out on because of Dooley's foot dragging/inability to settle on a DC?

We didn't get Cullen because he didn't take the classes he needed to play for an SEC school. As for Smith, there must be a lot going on that nobody knows about for him to turn down UT, Bama, and FSU to go to the likes of New Mexico.

This is UT. We have class. Do you really think our hiring of a DC just materialized within the past 24hours? This has been brewing for some time and frankly, this is the most important week with regards to the stability of college staffs, so in reality I'm surprised it leaked so soon.

RUMOR is that Calvin Smith's dad is getting a job at New Mexico. I don't know if that's true, or if it is, what type of job. I have no idea what his dad does. Teach? Coach? Maintenance?

This is stupid and way, way, way beneath your caliber.

He didn't drag his feet. He worked as hard as he could to get 3 month's worth of work done in less than 3 weeks.

I mean c'mon he has been our head coach for 2 weeks...If you have been paying attention CDD likes to be secretive about who he is hiring...honestly who knew about Bagget until it was announced...Awesome 2010 class...GBO!!!!

The longer view of getting the right guy at DC far outweighs the immediate impact of getting 1 or 2 recruits. I guess some people can just think of what is happening in the moment and can't see the forest for the trees.

Don't want to win the battle and lose the war. Dooley is going to make the best hire as possible, if it means sacrificing literally 2-3 recruits, then so be it.

I was curious aboutd on the Smith to New Mexico thing as well. I went over to their board to see what was being said and of their long time members asked the question "Why did a 4 star DT from Miami come to New Mexico with offers to 30 other schools"? Then he answered his own question.."Daddy got a job here". I can not say if this is 100% correct.....and it would make me wonder what happened with the Bama stuff. Most said he was Bama bound..unless they did not have room. Would his dad still been hired at NM if he went to Bama? Go Vols!!

Would it be nice to have them on our team? Sure! But, Lets not act like Smith or Cullen was gonna make or break our class!! Come on now!
