This is the first time Cutcliffe's Blue Devils have lost to the struggling Demon Deacons (4-20 in ACC over the last 3 years) since 2011.

Might not have been a good sign on the upcoming year for Duke, which might still be looking to find the factors needed for the efficient offenses it's been running the past several years.

Given their schedule, it's doubtful they make a bowl this year now. That WF loss was killer. They play Northwestern and Notre Dame the next 2 weeks, likely both losses. Even their other OOC game, Army, isn't a given anymore since Army is actually playing better this year.

It could be as bad as a 4-8 type year.

Duke lost way too much from last season, couple that with returning QB Thomas Sirk tearing his Achilles for the second time and it's going to be a tough year. Vegas had their over/under at 5.5 for the season. If Duke was going to make a bowl game they needed to beat Wake.

Cutcliffe coaching at UT post-Fulmer would have been downright scary for the rest of the SEC.

And Brian Kelly...and Gary Patterson...and Kevin Sumlin (maybe not scary with Sumlin, but a hell of a lot better than the 2010-2014 mess).

Duke was ugly in the WF loss. Maybe the worst I have seen them play in sometime.

Don't be surprised if Duke beats Northwestern handily this weekend.

As bad as Duke's early-season loss to Wake may be, their 2-game start is peaches and cream compared to Northwestern's nightmare: Northwestern 2016 Schedule - Wildcats Home and Away - ESPN

Crap, I mixed up Northwestern with someone else I guess. I thought they were 2-0.

Yeah Duke might win that one; but if they lose I think 4-8 is probably about right.

Cutcliffe coaching at UT post-Fulmer would have been downright scary for the rest of the SEC.

All because Mike Hamilton wouldn't let Cut bring Scottie Montgomery (ECU Head coach) because Kippie Brown was here, and subsequently took a job with the Seattle Seahawks with Pete Carroll who started the domino effect by leaving USC.
