Lot of "Truly" being consumed in the student section...I think that may be the issue.

i was out recently at an outdoor festival. this 20 someyhing in front of me had caught a buzz and was in "f it" mode. he crushed a can and threw it on the ground. i looked down and it was a "hard apple cider". i laughed a little inside, then noticed the can said it was 200 calories a can. a that point i couldn't even laugh anymore. i just don't understand it. why even bother? i am def separated from this generation. why drink a sweet cider that's 200 calories a can?

you guys know those "seltzers" are bubbly malt liquor right?
I don't drink them, but my wife does occasionally. Note: they are not made with malt liquor, but rather fermented sugar alcohol (similar to beer) -- I know this bc she has celiac disease and cannot have anything containing gluten.

the point is a lager or whiskey is 110 calories. an alcoholic cider is 180, and tastes like doodoo.

The only lagers I know of that are 110 calories are garbage. I don't even like the 145 calorie ones.

I love whiskey but not for day drinking when it's hot out.

I kinda do hate the Truly vibe but that's just snobbery. You probably won't catch me with a Truly but I have to admit it's not a bad choice if I'm out in the hot sun. It's pretty refreshing.

malt is the sugar you use to make alcohol.
No, but it does contain maltose, and it is used in the production of several different kinds of alcohol. Malt is a dried and processed product of (usually) the barley grain, which is why celiacs can not consume it.

The Zima of a new generation?

I guess there’s always gonna be a market for a more palatable way of getting schnockered. I mean, Ketel One used to essentially market itself as a liquor you can’t taste — just like adding alcohol to your favorite beverage!

But people drink with different goals. When you’re young you tend to drink to get drunk. For a lot of folk that begs for an easy path.

I’m older and I like a nice single malt scotch (my avi’s a dead giveaway). I don’t drink that to get drunk but rather because I just really like it. Of course, the fact that I much more often drink a simple Johnnie Red rather than a single malt just because the amount of scotch I go through in a given night is just not economical at single malt prices kinda says I’m also drinking it for the alcohol.

So what’s my point in all that? Well hell, I don’t have a freakin point, I’m just half-lit and prattling away on my phone.

I remember back in the day, they had just introduced wine coolers - we thought they were great for the girls.
Oh yeah, Bartles & Jaymes. Et cetera. I was never sure which was worse, beer breath or wine cooler breath. I also didn't care back then. Ahhh, the limited standards of the young and undiscerning....

Don't drink Truly but make my own ranch water (tequila, seltzer water and lime). I count carbs and ranch water is 0 carbs (and a pretty good drink).
