Top 10 Loudest College Football Stadiums (stadiumtalk.com)

Vols come in at No 2. I have been to several of these stadiums but have no Idea about No. 1

As far as the NFL goes it has to be KC Arrowhead with no doubt. You could hear a pin drop if vacated. They must enhance the sound somehow.

As we all know there are times at Neyland Stadium that you cannot even hear yourself think 1 to 2 hours after the game.

Have been to Arrowhead more than once, including AFC Championship games, it is overrated.

Washington at #1 is a joke

The point they make about the roof makes sense, Autzen has a roof on one side and I do believe it increase the sound level on the field. Husky stadium at #1 I just don't know, but I do know that it's one of the prettiest settings in college football with the view out over the lake.

I'm surprised at Mich being up there, I've always thought of it as a large bowl without much real noise level on the field.

Interesting that the article did not provide any decibel numbers. Either they are not available or the writer was too lazy to look them up. In an event, he gives his opinion, not factual information. I’ve never been to Miss State, but I imagine that state with its cowbells could be pretty noisy.

Orange and white checkered seating? 😂 Pretty sure this writer has never been to Neyland.
That and the comment about Lane Stadium having the highest elevation were head scratchers. Boulder, Fort Collins, Provo, and Bozeman all have higher elevations than Blacksburg, to name just a few.

I find it hard to believe that a stadium with a capacity of 70k is louder than Neyland
It is not. But this was a college list and I basically stated that in the NFL compared to other NFL Stadiums it is the loudest.

I honestly don't know why research is that hard anymore. The article is bogus if Tennessee is not at the top of the list. He must have needed a puff piece...

You can go days with your ears ringing after a game.

No way in the world a stadium design like they have at Washington would be louder than Neyland. Physics, sound wave distribution, geo-thermal nuclear refractorical such and such - you know what I mean - No way NEYLAND is not louder than Washington, thus making it the loudest stadium in college football and yes, most likely, the entire world. I will say however, Clemson Memorial Stadium get’s pretty darn loud at times. GBO - thump the Orange pretenders!

Interesting that both college and NFL loudest stadiums are in Washington.

Ones I've been to;
Michigan Stadium (MIchigan)
Neyland Stadium (Tennessee)
Tiger Stadium (LSU)
Louisiana Superdome (Tulane)

The 1998 Tulane vs. La Tech might have been the loudest if Tulane had sold the upper bowl. They were undefeated (but typically they used only the lower bowl). They turned away thousands of people who were trying to buy tickets. Near the end everyone was shouting "Stay Tommy, Stay!" (Tommy Bowden was the coach). I knew Tulane wasn't going to try that hard to keep him. If I had been Tulane, I'd have contacted every temp agency in the city trying to get people to usher the upper bowl and whatever else they needed. I'll admit I don't know the whole logistics of it...maybe contact the Saints just to get the upper bowl staffed.

I was at the Alabama game this year. It was unreal. The noise was deafening

Dunno.. Look at how closed in it is. That's gotta trap noise more than in Knoxville. I think this writer nailed it. Those roofs reflect noise that would otherwise come from the non existing end zone upper decks. And don't discount the boat horns blowing out on the water and the people yelling from that vantage point.
