LSU athletic director Skip Bertman told ESPN's Bob Ley that the school is confident the Tigers' next home football game, scheduled against Tennessee for Saturday, Sept. 24, will be played in Baton Rouge.

"I don't think there's much doubt the game will be played at Tiger Stadium," Bertman said during taping for Thursday's Outside The Lines Nightly. "We're hopeful that ESPN having first choice will select that game and it will be played at night. "We can get back to some type of normalcy we're used to here and get a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium where we can turn our guys lose and turn the fans lose and for a brief time, three, four, maybe six hours, people can forget some serious, serious problems."

I am glad they are being positive and deciding that they should be beaten at home vs. some other stadium. That shows a lot of courage.

I do pray and hope those players and their families are doing ok, but football is football, especially in the SEC!

Well we know the game is a go and will be played in BR, Im curious to see how CBS, ESPN approach the air-times.

They almost have to! But reports say a day game would benefit everyone? (travel plans, Baton Rouge) etc?

I heard this AM that a gametime announcement will come on Monday and that the LSU AD is pushing for a 7 or 7:45 PM kickoff, despite the request of UT that the game be played earlier to accommodate travelers. With the shortage of hotel resources in the area that will still exist and possibly unsafe conditions late at night, many fans (of both schools, realistically) will be driving hours away after the game. A night game wouldn't end until well after 10 o'clock. I know that LSU wants all those rowdy Cajuns there at night, but isn't this a little selfish and ridiculous?

UT is getting a hazing for the appearance of seeking an advantage from the post-disaster condition, when in actaulity it appears that LSU is. They basically want an unrested team with no fanbase as an opponent. A day game is a small concession to host a ballgame.

I think the whole Death Valley at night mystique is a little overblown.

I went to a LSU message board and they had all sorts of nice things to say about us not being able to hack it for a game down there. They basically think that UT wants to move the game just because the fans can not get a room. One LSU fan even went as far as to say that he has lost all respect for the UT program-whatever. Oh yes-the meessage board is Tiger rant-just google it.

I could car eless about hotels for the fans - what about the team. where are they gonna stay - how far will they have to go before and after kick off???

i understand LSU wanting the game at home and that is fine but Ithink this could seriously hurt us if we have to go 3 hours each way to practice and to get to the game.

Who could possibly level any criticism right now for anybody who is trying to work out the logistics of playing in Baton Rouge? We'll be one of the first teams that has to go in there and navigate that place. It's just our Athletic Department being prudent.

I totally agree with VOLracerx. That was the point I was getting at-just forgot to mention it. It is a tough situation for the team however you look at it. From a football standpoint, I hope we go down there and really TCOB and that will be the end of that- can't wait to taste some of that gator meat next week...ummmmm

No criticism intended - just expressing my concerns for our teams ability to be comfortable for Game day - that's all. either way it is a logistical night mare and one that I wouln't want to deal with.

What happened to your bowling balls GAvol?? they were sweet -

That wasn't a shot at you Volracerx. That was intended for the yahoo LSU fans who actually think we are trying to move the game time around to gain an advantage.

Every time I looked at the bowling ball avatar, I wasn't sure whether I really liked it, so I got rid of it.

Welcome, and FANTASTIC avatar.

Anyhow... If LSU fans are "losing respect" for us, screw them. I think there are things going on in BR right now a little more important than homefield advantage. Like say, THE AFTERMATH OF THE WORST NATURAL DISASTER IN THE NATION'S HISTORY. Damn.

BR is fine people.

People are over-exaggerating, yes...OVER-EXAGGERATING...the current conditions in BR.

A game can be played.

I think both UT and LSU fans will be pointing the finger at each other until gametime, since each blames the other for trying to gain an advantage. Sounds foolish to me, for both sides. Let's just play the stupid game.

I thought they were supposed to represent testicles.

Seriously, that's what I thought.

Anyway, as to when the game is played, I for one think it is completely legitimate to hope that the game is played during the day to make travel easier. So what if it means LSU fans aren't as loud as they otherwise would be. Relative to the fact that a night game makes it very difficult for fans of tiehr team to travel a significant distance to go to the game, it just makes sense to play it earlier in the day.

Honestly, its just to accomodate the fans. Heck, Bobby Bowden up at FSU has often lobbied for early games because that gives fans of FSU time to get there and back from the Central Florida area. Its a convenience to the fans. Makes total sense.

Hey, I think if Bruce Dickinson says he needs more cowbell we might just consider giving it to him.

For the love of god, get a clue

LSU wants that? Trust me, they have about 10,000 other things that they want.
