Turmoil in Baton Rouge?

Redshirt freshman quarterback Lowell Narcisse announced after missing practice on Tuesday that he will leave the Tigers football program. Narcisse was in a four-man battle with junior Justin McMillan, sophomore Myles Brennan and Ohio State transfer Joe Burrow for the top spot on the depth chart.

One day after Narcisse announced he would be leaving, 247Sports reports that McMillan will transfer with the 2018 season just around the corner.

The Advocate reported Tuesday that McMillan was absent from practice as well. The 6-3, 215-pound native of Cedar Hill, Texas, can transfer to an FBS school and play immediately. He completed the only pass of his career in 2016. Despite his inexperience, McMillan was one of the veteran leaders of the Tigers.

LSU's quarterback battle winding down as two candidates decide to transfer out

I think there's a pretty good chance this is Coach O's last season in Baton Rouge, this QB stuff notwithstanding. They did have a bit of a logjam there anyway; not all 4 were going to stay, but having 50% of your QBs leave on back-to-back days ain't good.

There are 5-6 potential losses in that schedule, and their fans are expecting to be very competitive in the West. I just don't see it. They very easily could be 1-2 out of the gate, and 4-3 or 3-4 halfway through the season.

If O is fired, I bet Kiffin becomes the top candidate. For their own sake, they should go ahead and fire Joe Alleva. That guy has made a string of bad hires/decisions, across multiple sports, at multiple schools.

That might not be a bad fit at all for Kiffin. Would definitely keep Saban in an even more sour mood.

O was on borrowed time when they hired him.

Yep. It was a total settle, kind of like what we had to do except without all the theatrics and drama. Alleva wanted Herman or Jimbo, and when he became apparent he wasn't going to get either, he panicked and went to O.

Everyone could see from the beginning that Coach O was not going to be a long term solution in Baton Rouge. None of this is surprising.

yet they gave him an extension --- I think even Currie has a shot at being the AD at LSU someday

Pretty interesting stat from /r/CFB:

In the Les Miles and Ed Orgeron eras, only 4 of 20 recruited QBs finished at LSU, 9 never played a down

Orgeron's buyout might make keep him safe as long as he makes a bowl.
Yep. He's there probably through 2019 assuming they don't go 4-8 or something. They owe Miles $9m. It could cost another $8.5m to buyout Orgeron this year.

Absolutely insane and a big reason why Alleva is one of the worst ADs out there. I'm not sure how that dude still has a job, and if/when Orgeron is fired Alleva might go with him.

Yeah the cajun connection made the honeymoon bearable. That time has passed.

Kinda like us with Dooley. We should have just named an interim that season....oh well

Couldn't happen to a better bunch. Would love to see them go through the struggles UT has. But that will not happen simply because football talent in that state falls out of the Cypress trees.

When reached for comment coach O had this to say. " Yaw yaw yaw, yaw yaw, yaw yaw yaw, fooball."

Lol. Saban would not fear Kiffin at all. Besides, he signed a huge contract extension through 2027.

Did not say he would fear him. There is no one in CFB I think Saban fears. Kiffin got under his skin as his OC. I find it quite plausible he would most assuredly do so on an opposing sideline with LSU's resources.

LSU is just following the mass QB transfer exodus we continue to see in college football. The premium SEC teams have all seen their own QB depth depleted in the last few years because everyone wants to start. Not going to change anytime soon.

The short answer is to keep recruiting. Regardless of talent, in the long run, it's better they leave than dividing the team. No one player should be able to hold their team for ransom.

Coach O, an average coach in my opinion has been the head coach at two SEC schools. One of those schools being a premier job. He was intermin head coach at Southern Cal and Associated head coach at Tennessee.

He's escaped the wrath of the NCAA on several occasions. Stop and think about that for a second.
Is this guy the luckiest man on the planet or what? He reminds me of the guy in the corporate world that does absolutely nothing to move the needle but keeps climbing the corporate ladder. Sometimes you just shake your head.
