i say if our offense start playing like our defense yea we can beat them but if our offense cant step and make some plays and let our defense rest for a bit ...i say we gonna get our butt handed to us in Baton Rouge.Lets pray and hope that our offense will step up to its potetional.I mean some long pass plays like 70 yards or better some gut pounding runs with Riggs barreling over defenders...Let get back to hard hitting Tennessee football. C'mon Vols let bury the LSU tigers in the death valley.lets remember that the tigers are playing for evrybody on the gulf coast...they are playing with a lot of heart ...so we gonna have to play with great hope and heart to beat em.

Can we? Absolutely. We have enough talent to beat them by two touchdowns.

Will we? Honestly, no. I doubt our offense will magically be in sync after two weeks of futility. I doubt our special teams will be special after approximately SEVEN years of futility. I also doubt our playcaller will all of the sudden learn how to call an effective offensive game.

It could be a very long weekend, Vols fans.

I don't know if I've ever been as frustrated with a coaching staff (sans Chavis) as I am right now.

We definately CAN get the job done. It is just a matter of whether or not this game will be the one when we finallly wake up or not. I've always got faith that we can because i've seen us do it before.

The Vols can beat any team on the schedule. They should have beaten Florida and should have stomped UAB. Neither happened because we have not been playing to our potential. :banghead:

If we cross the "t's" and dot the "i's" in Baton Rouge we will win. If not, we will get our hat handed to us.

We can beat them but for the love of God, stop throwing out's and throw the dang ball down the field. Ainge was a top notch recruit, treat him like one and gives these players some leash!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that we have a loss, Fulmer will open up the play book a tad and the team will play a lot more relaxed. Vols by 10, mark it down.

now that we have the loss......IMO the Vols have a psych thing goin on about that, and have for a while. Its like the play not to lose till theyve lost their 1 st one. Then when the damage is done, then they win out. Its like a perfection thing, afraid of success, afraid they cant make it, or fear of losing that 1st one. Its always seemed to play right into the Spurrier camp. Thoughts?

I would have to agree with that. Everything is just tight until that first loss. I hope they can turn it around and come out blazing at LSU.

No way in hell

We don't have a shot

Our OC holds us back from ever beating a team like LSU. Nope, no shot.

I would have to agree with you U-T until the players can execute the plays called must be simple and easy to complete unitl we reach a higher level of play and that is all the Coaching staff's fault- you know, cause they have to runa and catch the ball for the players too. talk all you want about the OC bt until the team can execute his hands are tied.

LSU got very lucky to win their first game. A lucky blocked field goal and punt, then a T.D. on 4th down that should have been incomplete!! I think Tenn has a much better defense than ASU and we'll score just enough to get the job done!!! :nener:

The answer is NO, you cant nor will you beat us.  We have a offense while you guys have QB problems.

Your team could have QB problems? Soon enough!

i think we control the game and win it. absolutely no one gave us a chance last year against georgia after we got beat by auburn and they killed lsu, and we came out and shut everyones mouths. i see this as a turnaround game. riggs will have a surprisingly big game and our d will shut down lsus run and force lsu to throw it, causing lots of problems.

UT is 7-3-2 all-time in Baton Rouge. 19-5-3 overall. The Vols have won 4 of the last 6 meetings.

Defensively, the Vols will shut down LSU. The Tigers struggled for most of the game against a Pac-10 defense at Arizona State. They beat Arizona State with Special Teams where Tennessee lost it to Florida. However, special teams errors are easily fixed. Every error and mistake the Vols made against Florida is easily fixable. However, the poor play of the LSU offense may not be such an easy fix.

Watch for Fulmer to pound the rock a bit more this week. Ainge will make some better throws knowing he's the man and not having to look over his shoulder.

My prediction: Tennessee 24, LSU 13

I would ease up on the "we have an offense" garbage because in case you didn't notice, ASU does not have a defense.

It used to be that to win consistantly you recruited better talent than your opponents. aka: Paterno, The Bear, and Robinson (Gramlin) Then the talent pool grew and you were forced to build a better mouse trap. aka: Spurrier and CPF. Now you're forced to build a different mouse trap vs every tough opponent. You must attack their weeknesses and defend their strengths. aka: Carrol (USC) No one else is doing better than them. The new NFL-to-NCAA Coaches are building that direction. ND,Fla,and Pitt's trying. If the staff at Tennessee can't keep up with preparing both the players and a game plan they will be left behind. OK's in the same boat. Fron Sat's kickoff Tennessee' offense was not dictating only reacting. It appeared Fla. had the extra time to prepare. Poor job guys. Now the good news. They are very smart people not stuck with egos and will fix the problem I'm sure. Don't panic just adapt and do the job they're capableof doing. Thanks for the space to do some venting. It's taken til Tue AM to cool off enough to not sound so much like an idiot. Thanks for Vol Nation.

I think both teams have issues for this game. Tennessee hasn't looked good offensively, LSU looked bad defensively and has only played one game.

It seems Bo Pellini has tossed out the aggressive defense LSU was known for under Saban, and everyone in Baton Rouge is upset with Les Miles for allowing that to happen. However, Miles has promised more aggressiveness after getting burned by ASU so many times.

On the other hand, Fulmer is getting some heat for admitting the two QB idea wasn't a good one, especially after a loss. In addition, with the travel issues the Vols face for this game, the disruption to normal pregame schedule might work in the Tigers' favor.

I applaud the Vols for changing their travel plans in light of the continued recovery efforts here in BR. And I hope we see a well-played "instant classic" from two great SEC teams. Of course I hope the tigers pull out a win, but I know it won't be easy.
