LSU's Zach Mettenberger has torn ACL. Won't make bowl game.

Crazy that it happened to both Mettenberger and Aaron Murray.

If they were RBs then it would effect draft status, as QBs not so much considering neither guy runs much. It was my understanding that a properly rehabbed ACL knee is actually stronger with the advances of surgery in this area. Still too bad, both QBs have had pretty good years.

On a good note it will be good to see what Jennings is made of, everything coming out of the Spring practice was how cool under pressure he is, you don't get any cooler than what he did last week. He definitely had the razorbacks fooled, they thought he was a running QB, but he is actually a pocket passer. And he gets to work with Landry and Beckham before they hit the NFL.

I think this is a major silver lining for LSU. It's not like LSU is going to be playing a meaningful game so, while it sucks for Mett, it gives Jennings two weeks worth of practice as the starter before he takes over next year.

Seems like there has been a higher number of ACL/knee injuries this year in both the NFL and college.

I feel bad for him and Murray.

I think it has to do with the targeting rule, at least on the college front. Players are hitting lower trying to avoid getting penalized for "targeting" so you'll continue to see knee and lower leg injuries.

Yeah, it sucks Mett finished up that way, but as a team I actually thought the last 7 minutes or so was a great way to finish the season, although the rest of the game was played like meehhhhh. :)

This actually kind of reminds me of 08, when Jefferson came in late in the year. After killing TAM, everyone was so high on Jefferson, I was very worried by what I saw even though he had a very good game.

I think Jennings is going to surprise some people, but yes, this will be good chance to see how he can play with the Junior weapons which will be gone next year ie Landry, Beckham and Hill. Next year might be a rough year for him.

What is Bama's situation on QB for next year, is it Sim's job to lose?

Yup. They were tracking injuries in the NFL and injuries are way up last time they profiled it on the tube. The NFL rule is now, break a knee because you be fined otherwise.

I doubt it. There will be a QB competition, and I would imagine that either Bateman or Morris will come out on top. To be honest, I think Del Rio has a better chance of being the starter than Sims. Sims simply cannot throw with any consistent accuracy.

I like Bateman coming out of HS.

Is Del Rio on scholarship? Somebody was telling me today he wasn't and I didn't believe them. Guy also said the Bateman kid is for real.

I think both pro and college players are suffering from this. I can't imagine we will go much longer without a rule about targeting knees too.
