Luginbill Tweet about Dobbs

FYI...

@TomLuginbill: The #Vols need to go with Josh Dobbs & never look back. Build the whole offense and the future around him. They got something in that kid.

I'm sure when CBJ wants Luginbills advice he'll call him, till then shut the h3!! up and let CBJ do what he is suppose to do.

If CBJ thinks it's Dobbs then he will play him, however till Ferguson got a little banged up last week he was #2. I could live with either that gives us the best chance in these last 4 games.

I will say this about Dobbs. That was a nasty environment to have to come in as a FR and perform well. I was very impressed with his pocket presence. I was also impressed with his ability to run and then to pass for accuracy.

Worley did his best I respect his toughness and for helping team 117 and BJ secure the first win over a top 25 team in a long, long time. However, anyone with eyes can see that he is limited in his skill set and can only take this offense to a certain level. Dobbs has a better long term future at QB, and since we are through with the most brutal stretch of our schedule, it only makes since to let Dobbs finish the year as the starter and build for the future. Jmo.
i feel for worley and the coaches. but a change is needed.

I have two hopes concerning the QB situation.

First, if Worley continues to start, I hope they tell him to go ahead and run it on the read option. They've blown Dobbs RS now. It is no longer necessary to avoid injury on a run at all costs.

Second, I hope they play who ever gives UT the best chance to win the next 4 games. If that's Worley. I'll pull for him. If its Dobbs. I'll pull for him. If its both... which I wouldn't mind seeing some... then I'll pull for both.

I agree. Worley is a smart guy but limited in ever other way.. If Dobbs can be smart with the football i don't see a negative going forward with him.

If Worley's injury is severe enough that the staff seems to think he needs to sit this week out, then Dobbs starts and we win with Dobbs, that will nail the coffin closed.

Problem will solve itself.

agree Dobbs looked good ...but everyone should remember that he was playing during garbage time against safe defenses ...that left the underneath relatively open .

I will keep my mind open until I see him during money time

Somewhat true, but Bama had their starters in and they do not like allowing any points as evidenced of all but one the teams they have played this year scoring more than 10 points. Dobbs went into the lion's den in a game vs. the number 1 team in the country on their turf and looked formidable. Missouri is a really good team, but they aren't Bama. And Dobbs has the luxury of a strong offensive line to keep him clean. If we are building for the future, now is the time for Dobbs to step up and play. The cherry was broke Saturday. Let's put him in there and try to get the upset on the road this weekend.

Lol.

Sorry but I just watched the replay...,just what impressed him about Dobbs?????!!?

What didn't impress you? What has Worley shown that Dobbs isn't capable of doing if given the chance? Does going into a hostile environment against the 2 defending national champion against their 1st string not mean anything? Why are we listening to you again?

As I watched Dobbs do a very respectable job, it had me wondering how good Ferguson is since he was supposedly ahead of him.

What I have read OTB is that Ferguson has been in the lead but as of the last week or two dobbs has kinda broke even with him. So I would think they are basically neck and neck at this point.

Before everyone goes crazy..... Ask yourself why is Tommy Lugunbill a reporter and not a coach.

Where is his experience to make a statement like this. He played QB for GT under Bill Lewis for one year. So, he is now great judge of talent.

Dobbs played 2 qtrs. Let the young man develop before making him the next Tee or Peyton.
During the game I was thinking that the only redeeming quality Worley had (passing...if you want to consider that a positive) was shot to shi!te. The game was already out of hand....might as well let the future start now, instead of waiting to this point in the season NEXT year.

All the reasons to play Worley would exist next fall, too. Don't forget that. He'd have all this SEC experience and they'd have NADA. So, for that reason alone, I say....damn right, Lugieinhisburger! Start Dobbs and let Butch and Bajakian start to run THEIR offense.

bUTch and his coaches will do whatever is best for our team now and for the future so I'll trust them to make the smartest decisions.

Dobbs did a good job as a true freshman coming in cold against the best D in the country in a very hostile environment and if there wasn't so many dropped passes he would have looked even better to all of us fans.

JW did a good job against UGa and USCe and we all know we should have Won both of those games.

The redshirt is gone on Dobbs and JW can't control the ball with a hurt thumb especially when he's trying to throw the ball hard and accurately into tight windows.

bUTch will take everything into consideration this week and he HATES to lose so we can all be certain that bUTch will do what he believes will give us the best chance to Win up at Mizzou.

It's nice to have a problem again of deciding which QB can be the best since we didn't really have any QB options for the last several years because our number 2 and 3 QB's weren't really options at all.

I just want to WIN out and to get to a bowl game and WIN that game too.

#BrickbyBrick...VFL...GBO!!!

It nice to know a sideline reporter knows so much about UT. He must go to all of the practices during the week.

2 quarters in already lopsided rout don't make the next coming of Peyton and Tee.

I don't know about you but I'm for UT in the present. I want to see 8-4 and a bowl victory.

Next year will take care of itself. Let's start whoever gives UT the best chance of winning out.

Don't anoint someone the next coming of Peyton, Heath, or Tee after 2 quarters in a lopsided loss.

I'll leave the coaching up to Jones but Dobbs looked very good against the best defense in the nation. If not for a few drops, he looks even more stellar. Against any other secondary than Bama's, he probably has an even better performance.

Oh one other thing. If they are not running THEIR offense now who's are they running?

It is pretty obvious that Worley is scared to run the ball. Everyone knows that the qb must run every now and then in the read option offense. Simple fact, if Worley does not want to run the ball , then let Dobbs run the show !!!!!!

I know a week of practice could make a big difference, but how much of the playbook can he run? It seemed like they run a lot of the same plays over and over yesterday. (Just asking a question here.)

I have the same differential equations lecture as Dobbs. He spends a lot of time in the lectures watching game and practice film on his tablet, AND i'm pretty sure he's got a better grade in the class than I do. I doubt that his knowledge of the playbook is that big of an issue.
