Hoch missed all of last season. Now he is a holdout with the Royals. I heard him on sportstalk the day before he was drafted #1 by the Royals. He said he was going to sign and sign quickly. He talked about how humbling the experience was having to sit out. He also stated that he had learned alot from the experience. Whas has he learned, apparently nothing.

Hoch has been offered 4.5 million and he is holding out for more. I put no blame on his idiot agent. Agents take their marching orders from their clients. If I was the Royals mgmt, I would make whatever offer I had and then tell Hoch either take it or leave it. If he sits out another year I would say the money train will stop. I guess that humility went out of the window when he was the 1st pck in the draft!!!!

i think a lot of the blame goes to the agent...it's the agent's job to advise his client, that's why they hired him...if he didn't need an agent, he's sign...who do you think is advising him to hold out?

the story on this agent is pretty well known....

But at the end of the day, if hocheaver wants a deal, he makes the decision.....so i won't blame it all on the agent, but some of it lies on his shoulders....

How much of that is guaranteed?

Amazing to me, a guy can sign a contract without ever throwing a pitch and be set for life if he lives reasonably. He can break his arm tomorrow, never throw a pitch.

It's a pure business decision and he is going to ask for what ever the marker will bare. I have no problem with atheletes makin as much $ as they can. The market place is an amazing thing. It will find a way to correct itself one way or another.

well scot boras is his agent.. and he's is known for holding out with every client. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but who knows. i do believe boras was the agent of former number one pick last year to justin upton and he got 6 mil but hochevar is a complete IDIOT if he doesnt sign soon! he doesnt deserve to play pro ball if he doesnt sign. If he doesnt do it this year nobody is going to want to negotiate with him in next years draft!

I'd be holding out from playing with the Royals, too.

If the players they drafted and kept from their farm system stuck around, then the Royals would definitely be one of the top teams in the AL year in and year out.

What gets me is he had Bore-us as his agent ,fired him, and then went back to him. Sign already, learn to pitch in the Majors and then sign with the Yankees like everybody else. :disappointed:

You don't give Boras marching orders, no matter who you are!

You need to learn about what goes on first

I know boras' rep. but he is the agent. he does not sign on the dotted line. If hoch doesn't know that then he is an idiot. If boras wont listen to him then he should fire him.
