I apologize for starting a new thread during such a high board traffic time but this report is pretty interesting.

The players are Davis and Massengale. They both say the right thing about not wanting to see anyone lose their job but their body language and tone of voice suggest that they are not too upset about this change.

Good classy job by the two. Perfectly done.

I say everyone who's signed comes and everyone who's already here stays. Truthfully, especially if the AD is really willing to swing for the fences for a new coach, these girls all just had the luckiest day of their lives.

Thanks for starting it. I am legitimately curious how everyone, current and former players are reacting.

Even though this is a tough time for Holly, a fellow Lady Vol sister, We want to make sure we give her all the support she needs. We also need to see the bigger picture and that is saving the Lady Vol legacy. I have a lot of sweat equity into this program and mixed feelings of everything but one thing I'm sure of is that the Lady Vols program needs to be picked up and ran by a strong Woman (preferably a lady Vol legend that is capable of putting the program back on top) There will never be another Pat Summitt, but I truly believe Holly did her best"

Let's not forget this is one of the elite programs of all time. We are not desperate for players. Hopefully the new coach will get back of selecting the best. Get with the program or leave.

I'm not referring to these two. I'm just saying this is a program to want to be a part of so no need for us to be nervous as fans who will be on the roster.

The tweets are great, really gives Holly something to hang onto. Clearly, many of her players love her and I have no doubt she's never wanted anything more than to be successful in this job. I can't imagine how painful this all is for her and I hope she draws great comfort from the decades of relationships she built.

Most of us don't play out our job struggles in public, and under such tragic circumstances. Most of us get to fail quietly, Holly feel short of the task in a bright spotlight. I'm really sorry it all ended this way for her. Hope she finds peace and happiness.

I’m curious what was asked prior to that reporters question? I kinda felt some type of way with Jax giggling when asked about that.

Those comments from Rennia and Jazz about say it all. They didn’t look terribly upset. I’m not sure what went on this season behind closed doors but they look relieved to be honest.

I have no doubt Holly has been a wonderful mentor to some of her past players, but many of those posts drive it home for me. They all call her “Holls” like she’s their best girlfriend. Pat didn’t just command respect, they nearly feared her. Not because she was cruel, but because she expected the most out of every single one of them and they wanted to please her. If you notice, the ones who have taken to social media were obvious “favorites” of Holly over the years. It was evident when they were playing and it should never be like that.

Holly could have done this differently and stepped down or retired, which I’m sure was an option. She chose not to. You can’t go 19-13, 7-9 in conference and 10-7 at home at what was once the most elite and feared women’s basketball program in the country and expect to still have a job next season.

I hope she’s able to move on from this and I respect what she gave to the university over the years. It was time though.

Well said. I think we all knew it was time , but I don’t understand why or how people are rejoicing in her losing her job. She dedicated her life to UT.

None of Coach Summit’s players were running around calling her “Patty,” it was Coach or Coach Summit. She didn’t just command respect, they nearly feared her. Not because she was cruel, but because she expected the most out of every single one of them and they wanted to please her. Oh dear. I shall just bow my head and wait for the storm to pass. Pat

The torch will be passed to someone else....They don't have a legend to follow.
Expect great things.

It looks like the players were ready for change.....Time to move on.

I’m pretty sure Summitt’s players called her Pat at her insistence. @Smallvol#1 can you comment on this?

If you didn’t know that her players called her Pat, are you even a real fan of this program?
