TN won against Fla yesterday in an OT sudden death shootout.

They now play KY.

On a 4 game win streak!

Used up. Beat up...they sucked it up and came out with a hard fought win. It was an incredible game with a beautiful ending. Yes, it was Florida. The number eight team in the nation. These young women have more heart than I've seen in a while. Now, if these young ladies can just talk to the Lady Vols BBall team about what it takes to win when everything is against you. Apparently they already spoke to the football team. :pepper:

GO VOLS!

Need to beat UK, which is another top 20/25 team, to get in the NCAA. That would be a major achievement for a team that was hurt by Wilkinson's injury and lost games in which it should have had a better result. We are a not a great team but better than our record and playing best soccer of the season--though more possession play would be nice instead of just whomping the ball down the field all the time. Unfortunately, the florida game is officially recorded as a tie, which could work against UT when the selection committee goes to work, especially because a lot of sec teams are already going be in the ncaa tourney and Vols did not have a 500 record in the conference. Let's hope team still has its legs and that its two injured players can come back. Another test of team's mettle.

Tough and physical battle. My 12 year old daughter got pumped up by watching this and is using it to prepare for her own tourney coming up.

Side note what was the sideline red card for?

The sideline red was for uttering a profanity.

I just saw that the NCAA has granted Hannah Wilkinson another year of eligibility, which is huge. With better attacking play team has a chance to be good next year.

tn won because the last gator kicking in the pk situation completely flubbed her shot, she had a wide open net and missed wide left...... Tn got lucky as hell but I loved it!

That's not luck when it comes to soccer. Pk's almost always come down to a great guess or a miss. And even when a keeper guesses right there are some shots that will score regardless from that range

Look forward to watching tonight

Anyone have a clue on if Carlyn can go? I mean I'm sure she's out, but it's soccer. Crazier things have happened

And a lot of pressure. Just like trying to kick the winning field goal in football. Hit it every time in practice and miss in a game. No way a keeper can cover the net, the FL kicker was probably trying to just hit inside the left side so, if our keeper went that way, she still would not block the kick. Just our good fortune the shot went too far left.

I doubt either her or Aaron Parry, who is also a starter and good player, will go. Parry apparently separated or sprained her shoulder. Baldwin's absence will be tough for the Vols because she holds the midfield together, even as a freshman.

It is hard to get injury info anymore because UT (and perhaps other universities) have gotten so absurdly concerned with privacy issues. I mean, someone sprains an ankle or has a hangnail and it's "shhhh, hush-hush, can't say anything." I'm not exactly sure why--hippa law, I guess. I can understand why there are privacy concerns related to /some/ types of health issues, but I fail the need for secrecy when it comes to conventional injuries. It's gotten rather dumb. Hannah Wilkinson was out with a knee problem for several weeks--and as far as I know there was never a specific announcement related to her injury or when she might be back. Fans are left completely in the dark.

UT will have to bring the good defense against a good kentucky team tonight and scratch out a goal or two. This is a pretty tenacious group.

I am watching Texas A&M for the first time. Wow, are they good in attack. They look like a team that can challenge for national title--and they're ranked 3. Four /good/ attacking players who have chemistry; makes our offense look pedestrian, and the aggies killed us earlier in the year in texas. They've got to be 20 percent better than florida, and that's saying something.

I think it's doubtful that we get in unless we win tonight. We are playing with a lot of guts but this team just isn't terribly good--not compared to the really good teams. We've got some young talent, and more coming in--that's the good news. Need a dynamic attacking midfielder, badly, and need more speed at the outside back position--rather slow. Also need to change some personnel to improve our attack. Let's win this game, though!

Parry trying to play with a shoulder problem and she does not look good. I do not know why Pensky is even playing her--I guess just to get some minutes out of her as we've got a tired team.

You can't win giving up goals like that. Miserable play by the UT keeper

You could tell from the start of the game that we are a tired, beat-up, spent team. Team has no energy. We played three emotional, tough games in a row--including two double OT games, and now Baldwin is out and I'm not sure why Pensky even decided to play Parry, who was running around holding her arm and totally useless. Bad decision. Parry needs to be moved to a new position, IMO--she is a good athlete and has skills but she seldom seems to be involved in the offense, and that's not good when you are a forward!
