While Aldrete continued to play in baseball tournaments until she was 14, it became clearer that she was on a path to play college softball. Before her sophomore year, colleges were asking for a commitment.

The one that got her attention was the University of Tennessee.

"Candace Parker was my childhood idol,'' Aldrete said. "I loved Tennessee basketball. Basketball was my first sport. When Tennessee called about softball, I started thinking that would be amazing if I could play there.''

Before her sophomore season at Santa Catalina, Aldrete took a trip to Knoxville, making a commitment to become a Vol.

Welcome aboard the UT train Annie. I know you will give your all to TN. The sooner you can get to UT & start playing the better we as a softball team will be.
