Awesome look at Alexander's story, for those who didn't see this. As someone who was raised 25 miles north of Immokalee and spent a considerable amount of time there, I can attest to his childhood. It's poor, it's dirty, it lacks modern amenities and if you were blindfolded and dropped off there, you couldn't differentiate it from Haitii or the DR. But the people are some of the hardest working and most grateful (for what little they have) you'll ever meet.

Wish we could have held on to Alexander; he sounds like a kid you want representing your program. I hope he stays smart with his money and can get his parents out of the groves for good.

A lot of people don't realize how poor some of the areas are that produce a lot of NFL talent. Pahokee, Belle Glade, & a lot of Collier Co. are out in the middle of nowhere.

Take away Naples and all that's left of Collier County is produce fields and outskirts of the Everglades. I wasn't naive to the fact that a lot of people I grew up around in the Glades communities struggled. However, I didn't realize to what extent, until I moved away for good and only see it on a return basis. When you're around it everyday, you don't really see it, especially as a kid with no references. It's just where you're from and the way life is.

Would've been nice if we could've hung on to him. Our secondary last year would've been unreal. Probably no 4th quarter let downs.
