Let's say CPF's legendary magic dust DID exist and you got to use one pinch on any part of the football team. How would you use it? I would sprinkle it on the wide receivers so they would never miss or drop any passes.

Last year, would have used it on our special teams. I honestly believe we lost 3 games solely due to foul ups on special teams.

Good answer. I didn't think about that.

Yep, especially the Florida game.

UF Game, not even counting the 'fake punt...'
Florida Possessions in the 3rd Quarter
START QTR POSS. YRDL PLAYS YARDS RESULT
13:58 3 02:07 FLA 28 4 7 Field Goal Good
09:52 3 04:38 FLA 31 7 13 Field Goal Good

Tennessee Possession
07:14 2 03:18 FLA 44 7 25 Field Goal Missed

Florida 16-UT 7

There are those 9 pts.

Running backs hands. Two fumbles on around the goal line would have won Bama and Cocks games.

Even with those fumbles...

In the SC game, Wilhoit missed a 48 yard FG, Josh Brown (SC) makes a 49 yd FG. SC 16-UT 15.

Against Bama...we should have hung on to the ball!

I was debating on whether to use it on Ainge, or the OL. Though the run blocking last year was suspect at best, I thought Ainge had time to throw the ball most of the time. I will sprinkle mine on Ainge.

I wouldn't waste any magic dust on the receivers this year. I heard that stuff doesn't work when Trooper has his foot up your behind.

I'm confused. Not blocking 2 field goals is bad special teams?

I think he is saying that they got the ball back in field goal position some we basically gave them those 2.

I believe one was the result of a muffed punt return and the other was the result from the faked punt...

Agree. Think it was a "team" effort to lose those games. Except for the defense. They played well considering they were on the field so dang much.

I believe that our offense definitely should have put up more points last season. However, I felt then, as I do now, that we ought to have a coach whose sole function is special teams. Maybe get rid of having 2 D Line coaches???

Agree again. Why CPF does not assign a Special Teams coach is amazing. That has been a weak link for years.

We now have 2 special teams coaches. Cut is the coach for the return units and Chief is the coach for the coverage units. This was announced a long time ago.

But they have other duties as well. We are talking about a dedicated special teams coach. What he live and breathes.

Exactly. Someone in the form of Joe Pannunzio (I guess Hatvol will appreciate this,) a guy who has built his career on special teams coordination. And, yes, he also coaches TE's, however, that is a relatively small task, and therefore he is able to dedicate a large portion of his time and focus to ST's. Cut and Chavis have primary jobs that are huge. They are not going to focus on special teams anymore than they have too. Basically, as long as our ST's are not messing up, then gravy. However, I doubt we will be seeing a lot of blocks, great returns, fakes, etc. out of our 3rd Unit in 2006.

Special teams is usually the first unit to suffer when the "details" begin to slide. I have a feeling that these things may be watched more closely this year.

Doesn't the NCAA limit the number of coaches a team can have? I Think that we would have to give up a position coach in order to have a special teams coach. I'd give up who ever is the the O.L. coach of the day and make CPF have 100% responsibility for the OL. I've heard that before he became Off. Coord. he used to be a good OL coach.
