Who do you think the was the last juco to have as big of an impact in their first year as Mahelona did?

Dale Carter or Charlie Garner Has to be a toss up

Carter had an instant impact I thought for his return abilities. Forgot that Gibril was even a transfer. Where did he come from NE OK?

Good picks. Garner came to mind immediately.

How about Chuck Smith and Chris(?) Mims? If I remember correctly, both came the same year and both were pivotal for our D-line (if not in their junior year at least in their senior year)

Some trivia: Who was the Juco choice that didn't make the team (academics I think) and as a result, Garner got the nod? In other words, this RB was the first choice ahead of Garner?

I know he got arrested before he played his first game, but who remembers Trvais Cozart?

I do, I played b-ball against him in HS. I don't think he ever passed the SAT though.

You beat me to it on Chuck Smith, he was a pretty good DE on the pass rush. Chris Mimms was good too, both had a career in theh NFL.

But Dale Carter may have been the best, he was a stud.

No takers on the trivia question about Charlie Garner?

Originally, the Vols went after LeShon Johnson - he insteaded ended up at NIU when I was there. He came up about 50 yards short of 2000 rushing yards in his senior season!

The first game I went to at NIU, he took a pitch from their own 8 yard line and went 92 for a TD!

He had 5 TD's and over 300 yards in that game and he left the game after 3 quarters!

Played for NY Giants and Ariz Cards for a while.

Whenever Dale Carter was back to receive a punt, you knew something was going to happen. Something really good or really bad :p

All good choices.

Dale was awesome.

I do believe Jesse has the opportunity, the skills, and the hunger to be the best juco we've ever had.

Heck, Jesse could have a break out year and be the best at his position we've EVER had period.

That may be overstepping it a little. I just need the season to start I guess. :p
