About time, but it only works if the companies are truthful and give complete information about how everything works. That's where it gets sticky - the competition and hackers get it, too ... especially if it goes beyond black box level. And the black boxes have to be made available as service parts. Maybe this will force a return to sanity, and some of the BS in cars (and other things) will go away. At least there can be some price competition in the repair market again.
