4 fouls, 3 points, 1 rebound

For a guy as big as he is, you would think he could help us out just a little bit. I'm not the kinda guy to find excuses for losses, but if there was a reason we lost this game, it was because of Wingate. He is absolutely terrible!

it still amazes me that people think that he will start next year. they either think it will be chism at the 5 and wingate at the 4 or wingate at the 5 and crews at the 4. he doesnt have the shot nor the rebounding to start over either of them.

At this point in the season he almost has the same number of rebounds as lofton:

REBOUND AVERAGE...G; Reb; Avg/G
Patterson, Andre.... 24; 159; 6.6
Bradshaw, Dane...... 24; 144; 6.0
Wingate, Major...... 24; 92; 3.8
Lofton, Chris....... 24; 89; 3.7
Watson, C.J......... 24; 82; 3.4

Rebounding is the main reason we lost. Everyone rebounded poorly except for JuJuan

Patterson, Andre..4
Bradshaw, Dane..1
Wingate, Major....1
Lofton, Chris.......2
Watson, C.J........4
Smith, JaJuan.....7

watson and lofton did okay. they shouldnt be expected to scoop up 5 a piece. smith getting 7 was good though.

Brewer got 5 and Modica got 6. Somebody's guards were going to the board.

brewers also 6'7". thats as big as our 2nd biggest player, not counting childress. hes more of an athletic swing then anything, though he does handle and pass the ball greatly. how tall is modica? it also helps when u have a 7 footer and a 6-10 player on the court for most of the game.

Major's biggest problem is boxing out. He stands too streight when he's up near the basket, he needs to learn to crouch a little and get his backside and his arms out. I think Major could be a decent rebounder if the coaching staff could focus on getting him to use better form when he's on defense facing the basket. During the next game take a look at how Bradshaw positions his body compared to how Major positions his. That's why even at 6'4" Bradshaw has had success on the boards and Major hasn't.

He's not blessed with an abundance of talent. As long as he is playing as best he can I have no problem until we bring in more talent. I think if he were dogging it CBP would bench him for Childress. So back off the young man.

Playing Childress significant minutes against quality competition is akin to a forfeit.

i dont understand it hatvol. do you expect us to dress 12 mcdonald all americans? childress is doing a decent job considering he is a true freshman in the sec. hes a role player, hes not gonna come in and score 20 points and pull 10 rebounds. hes doing a helluva lot better then u could wish to do. hes not gonna be a 20/10 guy, but he can bring 10 minutes to the floor. he plays hard and has a decent shot, he takes a charge pretty well to boot.

I understand very well that you have to have role players. The problem is, Childress has a skill level compatable with being a role player in the Horizon League or the OVC, not the SEC. If Coach Pearl had signed Mo Thomas or Tyler Smith, he would have never signed Childress. The kid is a space filler, nothing more. The only thing Childress getting minutes proves is that Damien Harris is the worst UT recruit since Andy Ikeakor.

harris is redshirting to lose weight and rob lewis thinks he will be a significant role player for us next year. we might as well get used to childress cuz he'll average 10-13 minutes next year as the 4th post. it wouldve been nice to get thomas or smith, but we got childress. its better than nothing.

That's why Rob Lewis should stick to commenting on football recruiting and the Lady Vols. Damien Harris will be a significant contributor about the same time Jamaica wins the gold medal in Olympic Hockey. I hope we don't have to get used to much of Childress. I'd rather see Chism, Crews, and Wingate eat up the 80 miutes of PT among themselves.

i would almost rather see childress out there than wingate. childress might not be the most talented but at least he gives it his all.

You can go get kids at the HPER building to "give their all." If they can't play, it really becomes self defeating.

yea i know i think both of them will be seeing limited minuits next year with chism and crews coming in next year

i actually think that wingate, chism and crews will have around 65-70 minutes between them and childress will have 10-15. the top 3 will all average a little over 20.
