Bradshaw, Lofton, Smith, Wingate, Crews, Chism, Tabb, Johnson, Paissley. Given Pearl's propensity for playing one post for portions of the game, there's a nine man rotation that doesn't require using Screech or Lerch.(hvwarrior58 @ Feb 25 said:well dude, its just a simple fact. pearl wants 9-10 players averaging double digit minutes. childress or howell, maybe both, will have to average at least double digit minutes to do that. childress will be our 4th post. d harris may average a few minutes a game as well. that is yet to be seen(depends on how he does in the offseason). childress will also be our backup 4 since chism and wingate would be out of position at the 4.
That means for 10 minutes a night, we'll look like UT-Martin.(hvwarrior58 @ Feb 25 said:tabb and johnson both wont average 10+. i almost guarantee that one will redshirt cuz it would be a wasted year if not. there is also no way that we have a 3 man rotation for the 2 post positions. thats 26+ a game for those 3. howell and childress will average 10+ and one of the 2 freshmen guards will redshirt.
o, and i meant wingate averaging minutes. he wont average over 13 points a game next year.
Also, if we play small, Paissley or Bradshaw can eat some of those 80 minutes.(hvwarrior58 @ Feb 25 said:tabb and johnson both wont average 10+. i almost guarantee that one will redshirt cuz it would be a wasted year if not. there is also no way that we have a 3 man rotation for the 2 post positions. thats 26+ a game for those 3. howell and childress will average 10+ and one of the 2 freshmen guards will redshirt.

First, I'll root for whoever I damn well please. Second, show me the elite teams playing guys like Childress major minutes. If this year is as good as everyone wants it to get, that's fine. Play guys like Childress and Howell. However, I would like to see Pearl put teams on the floor that look like those of another Tom Davis assistant. If we're going to play this style, which I personally don't like and really hasn't won much in the way of championships, I would hope the goal would be to put teams on the floor that look like those Gary Williams had at Maryland in the late 90s-early 00s.(hvwarrior58 @ Feb 25 said:maybe, but passley and bradshaw are our only 3s so they will average alot there anyways.
if u havent learned that pearls style can mask a players flaws by now, u might wanna look for another team to root for. childress's inabilities wont bring us down that bad. many teams around the nation have to play a player as limited as childress for 10+. we'll survive.
There's a reason Childress only plays 5 minutes a night.(mattvols @ Feb 25 said:we dont know how much Childress can or can't do he only gets about 5 minutes a game, I think he could be better than major. Our offense is centered around a center so he'll score some points He bangs around in there he could be alright, we cant talk about a player we havent even seen play more than 5 minutes yet. Major is a lost cause, he will never be a good player, he will hurt us. We cant do anything about it because we dont have a center in our class, and Damion Harris isnt very good at all, only averaged 10.5 points in Prep School.
I'm not breathing down his neck. He's done a fabulous job. I'm simply pointing out that, before our fan base starts expecting anything more than this season, we are playing guys better suited for Belmont or Samford in some critical situations.(hvwarrior58 @ Feb 25 said:ill take 20+ win seasons. i dont know what ur looking for, but we won the east, with a slight chance of sharing the sec. we havent been to a tourney yet so we dont know what to expect. right now, we have no option but to play those type guys. give pearl a few years before u start breathing down his neck to have a roster that rivals duke in talent.
