Have yet to see the Vols play yet, and will admit I know a lot more about football than b-ball. Do you think UT could be better off without Major?

i don't know that we are better off at this point, but the fact that we now have someone who CAN rebound playing the post definitely doesn't hurt us.

I think we will do alright without Wingate. Childress has come along way since last season proving that he will be a major contributor in the post. Crews and Chism have a ways to go but, once they get more experience we won't even remember Wingate.

The one thing that I didn't like about Wingate was when he went up against another big man sometimes he'd get outmanned and pushed around. He played passive. Maybe Pearl told him not to get in foul trouble and he took it to play soft, I don't know but just one thing I never liked about Wingate.

Well in all fairness, he did have that big game against the Shocker's center..

The only significant thing I can think of the Vols lose with the loss of Wingate is experience...

That and he was good at boxing out. I believe that was actually offered as an excuse as to why he didn't rebound well, he was too busy boxing out 20 players..

........and Major never got in the way of another Vol(like Andre Patterson) going for the rebound!:pilot:

the present day Vols have a long way to go because they are so young and inexperienced (esp in big games) and Major would probably have helped that, but he made his own bed. Another thing, did anybody see Florida? scary

It's hard for me to say that we are better off without Major at the current time. I think the only reason we miss Wingate is just having another big body to add to the rotation.

"Hands of Stone" was an accurate comment about Major, and his rebounding stats were non-existent, but I just wonder if Chism & Crews can stay out of foul trouble in the bruising SEC. If they can, I think that we'll be fine.

Looking to the future, it will be good that Chism & Crews have picked up the playing time that Major would've gotten.
