Smart choice. He will have much better job opportunities open up over the next few years. At Vandy there really isn't any hope of success.

Wonder who came in and saved him from making the drunken "sleeping with the fatty" mistake. Great career save.

it was reported he was offered 3 mil a year !! is he some kind of a not or what ? i'd coach new jersey school for the mentally handicapped for that.

I can't imagine anyone taking the Commode Door job who might want to have a coaching career after the next 4 years.

That job has seemingly been a career finisher for years.

Rumor is 3mil/year five year deal. If true that alot of jack to say no too. At Vandy 6-6 or 7-5 for a couple of years gets you better job at a bigger school.

Not if you knew you could get a huge raise where you are at now and/or get the same offer and money from a school where you'd have a chance on earth of winning very soon, you wouldn't. Rather have 3 mil/year for the next 10 years than for the next 3-5, then out. With that said, I doubt that Vandy would ever pay that. Don't see how it could ever be justified and the ol' endowment isn't generating the funds that it used to, either.

I don't know a lot about him, but think he'd be a helluva risky hire as HC, though. Don't think he has much college esperience at all and doubt that he's ready to be a HC (don't blame Vandy for trying, though. Think they'll have to use some sort of gimmick offense to have any chance of winning much.).

Plenty of coaches have failed as HC and returned to jobs as OC's. 3 mil a year, 6-6 = success, think I would have taken it.

Hey Atleast our head coaching position is not the only one to get turned down. Although I am happy with the coach we have now.
