I need more details. Sounds like shooting one of them might have been justified, but I doubt shooting two was necessary. Depends on how it played out.

A bit light on details at this point but if somebody shoots an attacker in the middle of an assault then...well...that's what the weapon was for.

The fact the rider was released after consulting the local DA would lead one to think the shooting was considered justified.

Someone intentionally knocks me off of my bike? There's gonna be hell to pay, but I wouldn't kill anyone. Didn't read the article, though.

There are a ton of these cases arising now in Florida because of new "stand your ground" law.

Don't know the details of this particular incident, but there has been a sharp increase in these old farts, most of them irascilbe old coots, arming themselves and basically patrolling their property waiting on someone to come by so they can confront them.

Sometimes its a criminal and it is debatable whether it was wise to hold them at gunpoint. Sometimes its a freakin meter reader or a process server or what have you, just doing their job.

Some of these idiots have itchy trigger fingers.

If you mess with the wrong person, you'll know it quick, so it's best not to mess with anyone.

I work with a government agency that collects agricultural data, and their enumerators who go to farms to collect that data (much of it required by law) have gotten held at gun point before.

some need to read the article. He was knocked off his bike and assaulted. Little punks messed with the wrong guy. Sucks for them and I hope the man gets off clean

This is why people get carry permits, so they can carry their hand gun and defend themselves when they need to. Knowing Reading, which is a lot like York, the old guy will need to carry two weapons for a while as someone will want to seek revenge.

I have no issue with what he did. He was outnumbered 3 to 1 and they were trying to rob him. It looks to me like they picked him because they thought he was a easy target. Plus he could have been easily killed getting knocked off a bike at his age.

we know what they mean when they refer to them as teens.. anyway elder man riding his bike, gets assaulted and attempted to rob him..those thugs got exactly what they deserved and its a shame he didnt get all of them.. that would be 3 less animals on the streets :toast:
