In an article from the scout website, Brooks says that Mapu is further along than expected, and will compete for a starting spot. Warning it is a pay site. Basically Brooks says that Mapu is tenacious, and that he hasn't lost quickness or technique. He states that he has an inner pride that shows. Brooks also says he doesn't know how much Mapu bench presses.....and he doesn't care.

I'm glad to hear it appears he's still "on a mission". Sic 'em Mapu.

If Mapu is ready to play like he did before he left (plus maturity and filling potential), the line just got exponentially better.

With McBride at an end, we'll have 3 very experienced players.

Does any of this mean he has the endurance to play a ton of snaps every week?

It might take a little while for him to get the stamina back, but that doesn't mean he can't be in the rotation.

Very good news... I think this is very big.

The continued strength of our D-Line is critical to our schemes. Getting Mapu back in form quickly is a huge bonus. Success up front will breed success as a unit - particularly early with our inexperience at LB.
