That Kentucky win was huge. I had visions of them falling out after the Florida loss.

Wow, we lose pretty badly to an unranked team and we still move up a significant number of spots. The pollsters must really respect that UK win.

Maybe they are factoring in Chism not really being able to play to his capabilities against either opponent?

Did we not use to pretty consistently rank higher in the Coach's poll than in the AP when there was a difference? Lately it always seems the other way around. Means little probably, but I thought I noticed that...

If Duke is a one seed, this may be the year that we finally see a 16 win in the first round.

UK shouldn't be #3. They should be about 5 or 6 after the a$$-beating Tennessee uncorked on them.

everyone else other than they and KU have 4 or more losses; there's no reason those two 2-loss teams should fall below the 4-loss ones

You may be right in that thinking UNAVol89…had UT been able to maintain their huge lead, and not let the Cats tie it up with a couple of minutes to go, I think UK would have fallen further than they did.

No 16 seed is going to beat Duke. The only way that's ever going to happen is if some 1 seed is a team that's played way over its heads all season runs into a 16 that can't miss a shot and has the ability to attack some major weakness in the top seed's game.

The times it's nearly happened were cases of the top seed being poor on one side of the ball or the other (no offense Georgetown lucking past Princeton in '88, no defense Oklahoma almost losing to ETSU in '89), or a top seed that had played way over its head (Purdue in 1996 against Western Carolina).

The only time it's ever happened anywhere was in the '98 women's tournament, when Harvard beat Stanford in the first round--after Stanford lost its two best players to injury a day or two before game time.

Duke isn't poor on either side of the ball, decimated by injury, or playing over its head. It's just somewhat overrated.

i still really think it's more about the records below everyone in the current top 3; probably though had purdue not lost, UK would have fallen a spot further

seriously? or wishful thinking with a wink?

i wouldn't mind seeing duke set some dubious history, but no chance will this happen. not with this team, at least. they take care of inferior teams. the ones they have trouble with hit them in the mouth and don't back down, e.g. Georgetown and Wisconsin.

Interesting that KenPom has Duke 1 now.

Duke will be the one seed that everyone wants in their bracket.

I agree with that.

They weren't deep in the post to begin with; losing Lance Thomas didn't help. If they're not hitting from beyond the arc, they will struggle against good teams.

This team isn't much better than the one that was taken to the wire by Belmont.
