Tennessee men's basketball coach Cuonzo Martin said Thursday night that he has hired Mark Pancratz, a former member of Bruce Pearl's staff, to serve as the team's video coordinator.

"I'm unbelievably thankful for the opportunity to be a member of Coach Martin's staff and to be able to help Tennessee basketball and be a part of the winning tradition of Tennessee athletics,'' the 28-year-old Pancratz said. "Me and my family feel blessed by this opportunity.''

Martin said he knew and heard nothing but good things about Pancratz even before he was hired on March 27, and he contracted Pancratz to help run UT's summer camps.

"We're excited about this hire,'' Martin said. "Mark brings great energy and a great work ethic to our program, and he has shown a passion for his duties.''

Great move by Cuonzo.

Not sure why you would want to retain ANYONE from the BP years. I'm sure this 28 year old kid had nothing to do with BP's departure, but can't we find another enthusiastic kid to coordinate videos? I'm not impressed at all --- this kid needs to move on and so does UT. Give someone else a shot at this type of job.

I would assume that by now, MP would have "moved on" if an opportunity had presented itself. Clearly, this is a good opportunity for him and a position that is needed by CCM. MP is a standup guy that most of us are pleased to see back in orange.

Welcome back, Mark!

I am a big fan of MP. Glad to see him find a new role with the university and this team. I really enjoyed his blog and feel he will be a asset. I would not be surprised to see him move his way up.

I'm going to assume this is sarcasm.

As far as I know, Mark was not involved with any of the violations the previous staff committed. He's familiar with the program and the current roster. I don't have any problem with him staying.

Plus, he and his wife just had their first child, I'm glad they have a little stability now and don't have to go through the tumultous experience of trying to find a spot on another staff somewhere.
