Anybody see this yet???

"Georgia football coach Mark Richt has an out in his new contract if the University of Miami comes calling, according to Fox Sports Radio's Jorge Sedano. Richt, a 1982 graduate from Miami, recently signed a long-term extension with the Bulldogs. Larry Coker is expected to be fired at the end of the season by the Hurricanes after a 1-2 start to the 2006 season."

Given Richt's immense success at Georgia, be it recruiting, or owning TCHFCATUOTK throughout recent years, I'd say good riddance.

The buyout is 8 million I dont see UM dishing out that kind of loot. Plus CMR squashed these rumors yesterday in an interview and has just moved his entire family to Athens. Im not saying that it won't happen just very unlikely. I'm more worried about FSU when Grandpappy retires.

seems like a lateral move to me. Whats the motivation.
I'm sure no one would be happier then Fulmer.

A chance to coach his alma mater, perhaps?

Richt has not been very connected to the Miami program, probably bitter he sat behind Jim Kelley for 4 years. From what a friend in the atlhetic department has told me when I asked him today, there is no clause for Miami. But there is one for FSU. Not sure where this writer got his information but it appears to be incorrect.

Rumors are floating that this is a possibility. Will he drop UGA and head to his alma mater? Only if Miami can come up with $7 million to buy out his UGA contract.

There is no out for him. Any school that wants him will have to dish out the money. Tuberville fell into this same original reporter's story and he said he's not giving up after what he's put into the Auburn program. Brad Johnson, Richt's brother-in-law, just bought a house in Athens as well. It would be a huge package to get the whole family to pack up and move south.

Again, Miami would have to cough up a pretty penny and then some to get him. But with the history of that program and where it is now, I don't see money being an issue. It will be Richt's for the taking or denying.

I remember when Mark Richt played QB at Miami. It was after about the 2nd game of the 1982 football season.

Then Hurricane and future Bullalo Bills QB Jim Kelly went down with a shoulder injury.

Mark Richt played the rest of the season at QB. Whew. What a difference a quarterback makes.

I got to say this for Mark Richt. He's a lot better football coach than he is quarterback. The prospects for Miami's season went from pretty good before Kelly got hurt to mediocre after Richt took over.

I remember the U. of M. players seemed to like Richt back then though. I think ol' Richt is a probably a nice guy.

I would be glad if he did go back to Miami. Maybe the 'Dawgs would re-hire Jim Donnen.

Wasn't UT was supposed to own Florida when Spurrier left? I guess someone in the athletic department didn't get the memo.

Believe me when I say Richt is holding that program together. He is a god there in Athens and has a cult following unlike any I've ever seen. The man's plugged into everything and is well connected in the Christian churches all over the area. That is a huge recruiting tool for him since he is involved in a lot of Christian youth groups. He's very popular there and if he left, I think the mental being of many would implode.

I think if he has enough love for his alma mater he will do as John Majors did.He came down right after a national championship season, or shortly there after.

At this point there are some FSU fans trying to scrounge up $7 million to bring their offensive genius back. I'm sure someone in Miami of all places can come up with $7 million. Question is does Richt want to pack up and leave? Will Brad Johnson want to as well?

Maybe the Dawg's would rehire Ray Goff.

Goff is too busy playing golf and being a farm boy. There's a better shot at re-hiring Donnan than Goff coming back.
