He's needs to be getting the majority of the carries. Check the stats. He finds the hole better than Neal does and doesn't go down as easy. Not knocking Neal , just saying Lane should be getting more touches

Lane averages 5.8 per carry. Neal 5.0.

Is that the stat you're referring to?

Sure that one will work too. Yesterday's game is just another example.

Lane 6 rushes for a 6.2 average
Neal 8 rushes for a whopping 1.0 yd average.

Lane only had a long run of 11 yds so those stats aren't skewed by one long run or anything.

Yeah but take into account how injury prone Lane is. He isn't going to be able to take 15+ carries a game. To fragile.

I guess I would find out just how many he could handle.

Last time I checked, he was in the doghouse not the hospital.

Dude has had injuries that has held him back every year. And nah that's some Spurrier stuff there play a player till he's hurt. Lane also needs to bulk up he's only 205 if that. He's just not an every down SEC back. I agree that he is better though

IMO...Lane keeps his head up and is always looking downfield. His head is on a swivel, hence his ability to see downfield better than Neal...thus allowing him to hit the hole quicker and getting into the second level of the defense.

I guess all of the coaches are blinded at how much better Lane is than Neal, in every aspect ofwhat it takes to be a starting a running back. Funny how everyone was praising Neal who had to carry the load against SCjr just a short time ago...

Drake 7.8 ypr
Yet stater Yeldon just 6.3 ypr

Green 6.5
Gurley 6.3
Douglas 4.4
Marshal 4.4

Clearing Saban and Richt have no idea what they're doing.

Neal has his qualities too, which is why he should still get some carries. Just not the majority.

Total # of rushes?
Rushes during mop up duty?

Nice try.

Dobbs was the leading rusher.
O-line was just completely confused by the defensive fronts they were seeing. Coaches weren't prepared.

I don't think we ever tried to establish the run. Of coarse when you have false starts every series it gets you behind the chains and you have to pass.

You can't just look at average yards per rush and say that justifies your argument (see my last post). I like Lane and am glad he will be starting next year but wow this team is full of better backup players than starters.

Agree. I just don't get it. Neal averaged 1 ypc last night Lane avg 6.2 yet Neal carried the ball over 3 times as often as Lane. Somebody needs to answer for why Neal stayed in the game last night.

It's not just stats. I could tell you Lane was better without seeing stats. He found a bunch of yards last night that he had no business finding. He's a better running back, and Neal is a better athlete. Unfortunately, you need more than an athlete to compete in the SEC.
