Hut Stricklin ruled the lower racing ranks, but never had alot of success in cup events.

He had a few good runs, but never was a real contender. I believe he may have won in the Dash series. He had several good rides. He married Bobby Allison's daughter.

rbroyles, i have a brother who is several years older than me, he used to watch Hut run at Nashville, and I think Highland rim. He was hated there because he won so much. I remember my brother telling me that Hut outrun DW at Nashville once.
If you know much about Nashville Speedway and DW, you know that him losing at that place used to be a big story. He owned that place.

Well I just got corrected, i asked my bro. and he said that was not Hut i was thinking of. It was Sterling Marlin. Sorry.

I went to Nashville once for a Cup race in the late 70's and DW won it. There were about as many boos as cheers. I asked the guy next to me why are they booing their local driver winning a NASCAR Cup race, and he just looked at me like I was stupid. His only comment was "you ain't from around here are you"?

thanks everyone. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. Glad I started doing this, it's been fun. A couple more weeks like this one and no one will know I missed Daytona.

Of course, I'm sure the law of averages will run it's course and I'll have some 500 some point weeks too.
