Organized by former Scots football players Nick White (1998)and Brian Gossett (2000), the event was moved to Maryville College in the summer of 2008 and dedicated to the memory of Cody Bowers. Current and former Maryville College football players and other MC alumni serve as volunteers for the event.
Several local businesses make donations to the event. Sponsors for the event include Chick-Fil-A at Hunters Crossing, Chick-Fil-A at Foothills Mall, Food City, Food Lion, Little Debbie, Anderson Lumber Company, Anderson Rental, United Grocery Outlet, Kesslers Sporting Goods, Hardees-Alcoa, and Coca-Cola.
The passing day is an opportunity for schools to practice their passing game without a tournament format.
