Maryville will continue to be successful in 5A football. I have heard that Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport is also negotiating with Nike and Adidas trying to work out a sponsorship deal.

What have they done to deserve a sponsorship?

Agreed. As a graduate, I have personally witnessed many of those "choke" jobs. However, they are recognized across the entire state by everyone and across the region and country by many. They are #1 in the state in football wins, #1 in the state in baseball wins, and #1 in the state & COUNTRY in basketball wins, including more than any other college. I would venture to say that over time they have earned everything they have received and will receive.

You guys have to realize though that signing a sponsorship deal is not so much about what you have done to earn it or not necessarily how many championships you win, but how well you can sell the stuff. With millions of dollars passing through the DB athletics office each year, I believe, as apparently do Nike & Adidas, that they could easily sell their products.

It is common for teams to sign with sponsors. Adidas puts on a 7 on 7 each year at UT. None of the Nike, Reebok, or other shoe sponsored schools show up there.

There is a nationally ranked team out of Duncan, SC....Byrnes....they used to come to Knoxville for the Adidas camp. They are now with Nike and no longer are able to come here for it.

It may just be you top ranked teams that get the sponsors, but I do know that teams gets deals

Yeah CAK buys all their uniforms and gear from Nike, as does Alcoa but neither is a sponsored team they just get it at a huge discount. Maryville on the other hand gets theirs free
