Same thing happened when they started the HOPE (lottery) scholarship in Georgia. People assumed that it would create a great influx of disadvantaged kids who would otherwise be unable to attend college but instead it just made it harder for those kids to get in because a lot of the kids who might have gone out of state or to private school decided to go to UGA or GaTech since they got free tuition.(utfantilidie @ Dec 29 said:The qualifications to get into UT are getting harder every year. If you have sub par grades you probably need to go the junior college route first. Good Luck!

My SAT scores are pretty much the only way schools are even accepting me.(VolunteerHillbilly @ Jan 4 said:Also, I had so-so high school grades but somehow scored in the 92nd percentile in the SAT. I got several scholarship offers from schools that I did not even apply to based just on that one test.
Yeah. If it were not for that one test I probably would hafve considered myself lucky to get into MTSU. I had the same thing happen on the LSAT. As someone who has benefitted greatly from standardized tests I like them but IMO they really do not prove much of anything other than you are a good test taker who does not stress-out in a pressure situation.(milohimself @ Jan 4 said:My SAT scores are pretty much the only way schools are even accepting me.
