Let's see what he can do. Kind of strikes me as odd he is sitting in Ainges old spot with the Jets right now and Ainge is at home on a radio show.

If he's similar to how he was in college he won't play long. Ainge was way more talented. I think Ainge got hooked on some stuff and never progressed.

Hard to know where Ainge would be if he hasn't had demons on his back the whole time.

I think Ainge had a bit more talent but I don't think Simms was as bad as he played at times at UT. Our O line was terrible and he was running for his life a lot of the time.

Is he in yet? and if so how many times has he already been sacked?

Dooley was such a dummie.... He should hv played Simms all year his senior year and redshirted Tyler Bray.....

We would hv probably had the same outcomes and then Bray would be at UT this year, and Worley should hv redshirted too....

Dooley said "why should we redshirt them when they just leave early anyway??"... Sounds like Dooley knew he wouldn't be around long....

I hope he goes on to win the starting job and take the Jets to the playoffs. I have nothing but respect for him.

The dude worked his tail off while he was at UT. He deserves it. Too bad most of the armchair coaches just want to crucify him for not living up to their expectations. He wasn't the best, but I was obvious that he gave his all.

I'm not a Dooley fan, but this is just dumb. A coach owes it to the team to put them in the best situation to win. A coach is not going to say to a group of seniors that have busted their ass for 4 years, sorry but we aren't going to put the better player in.

Simms can thrive in that system. All they want is a game manager QB. Geno will probably have the job, but at this point Simms is less a liability than Sanchez.

Simms only problem was holding on to the ball too long. Other than that he has all the tools to succeed. He's tough, has good natural ability, and has a good head on his soldier. If he can learn to make quicker decisions he'll turn out alright.

I agree.... I just don't think Tyler was better than Simms when he was a true Freshman.... Yes he had arm talent and threw some great deep balls, but Sinms was tough as nails....

Bray came in versus all the bad teams and he's annointed as the next Peyton..

Was a joke then and it's a total joke now....
Bray needed a red shirt year and 3-4 more years of college IMO.....

Dooley helped to dig his own grave imo

Tyler Bray - the second coming of Ryan Leaf (only not as much success in college and didn't get drafted in the 1st round)

The only thing I disagree on is that if Bray had played the whole USCe game, we would've won. At least, the way he was playing that night. Doing that changes the whole outcome of that season, ironically, just like one or two plays did last year.

Personally, I'll remember Dooley as the unluckiest guy I've ever seen coach a sport. He was literally about 6 plays over four games from winning the SEC east, one different bounce, one different play call, one different block, one different whistle. I know people will say you gotta make those plays, but the NFL has a team or two every year that goes deep into the playoffs winning with those bounces nearly every year. Tebow's Broncos did it on some lucky kicks and turnovers, and the Bears that Peyton beat in the super bowl did the same thing with turnovers and special teams.

I'm happy as can be we got Butch, but people need to realize, as bad a coach as Dooley was, we were a dropped pass from beating georgia, a block from beating USCe, three defensive breakdowns from florida, and no calls at the end of missou from having dooley for another 3-4 years. That speaks marvels to the talent we've had recently.

Agreed ..he played for us ..he is a vol ..too many hatorade drinkers on this site ..they hate almost every one ... Matt didn't point gun on UT coach's head and asked for scholarship...we recruited him ..we tried him and he gave us the best he could ..:good!:

not being an a$$ and I have been harsh about bray's work ethic and attitude.but, bray had more talent in his pinky than simms had in his whole body.i wish simms well but saying he was anywhere near bray's talent is a joke.

just ask d.moore who should've been starting.

Is it 2010 all over again??!!

If so...I've got some ideas on some different decisions that need to be made coming up regarding a guy. Named Dooley...

I have nothing but respect for Matt Simms.

He was tough as nails, and he was thrown under the bus by Dooley two years running.

It was clear Simms managed the game better than Bray and he should never have been pulled from the USCe game when he was. That game was still in hand, but Bray lost it on his first or second pass.

Dooley... smdh.

I have a lot of respect for Simms, it actually says a lot he made it to a second season in the NFL. I think part of the reason is he is a warrior on the football field. As far as Bray, "Bray don't care". Just don't have any tolerance for Bray. Don't get why some on her have a love fest for Bray. Did you forget the UK game and other games like it? Bray had some talent, but you put Simms in that UK game in 2011 the streak is still going for whatever that is worth.
